Castelluccio di Norcia, a photo from Perugia, Umbria

Photographer's Note

Between late May and early July, the plateau of Castelluccio is witnessing an event of particular importance, Flowering. For several weeks the chromatic monotony of the pasture, is broken by a mosaic of colors, with variations in color ranging from yellow to red ocher. Even if the party of "Fiorita" falls in the third and sixth 'last Sunday of June, there is no precise day to enjoy this delightful show. Each year is given to weather conditions throughout the season. The floral species that dye Pian Pian Grande and Lost in this period, are innumerable, walking along the paths we can meet: gentianella, daffodils, violets, poppies, buttercups, daffodils, purple eugeniae, clovers, Shamrocks and much more.

Hello Valter,

This picture is like a breath of fresh air - light and rejuvenating. I very much like the composition, including the people on the road, the DOF, the light and of course the colours. TFS!

A minor suggestion would be to crop the branch on the right as it is a little distracting and does not add much to the scene.

what a lovely picture ...the green filed is adding an excellent element to the picture...i love your POV with small architecture in foreground & hills in backdrop is making this a great composition y

A fine perspective to the large valley , with the pretty chapel in the FG . The light management was not so easy (walls in the shade) , but you've done it very well .

Hello Valter - One of my dreams is to see the flowers in this area, from the shots I have seen they are stunning. I like this view; the small chapel has a strong presence as it looks down across the flowering fields. The small track leads the eye deep into the landscape and I like the fact that we can see a few people walking out among the blooms. very nice shot. Warm regards rosemary

A very beautiful valley! You have composed this picture very well, with the little chapel a bit to the side and the little path leading into the centre of the scene. The included persons add interest too. Very attractive colours and a marvellous view!

first of all, excellent photo.
its clear what your focal point is right up front and centre, but the photo has alot more than that going on.
love the way we can see the shadows of the large clouds above on the landscape.
and that landscape just seems to go on forever.
wonderful depth, colors, composition and subject.

Hello Valter,
What a fine picture ! This little stone chapel overlooking the wide valley blends into the landscape so harmoniously. Your viewpoint is excellent and shows the chapel quite isolated in that desert countryside which seems endless. The mountains make a splendid backdrop that close this landscape and add depth to your composition. The little dirt path is a good lead-in that gives a fine sense of perspective. Beautiful colour tones of the fields, too. When I look at this picture, I'm really longing for summer to come along.

This is a lovely view of the famous multi-coloured Italian fields, this time with a very pretty little chapel in the foreground and a nice view of a dirt road with some people binding the two areas together. The colours and light are excellent.

what a majestic looking landscape with such wonderful views over the valley and fields with the little church in the foreground acting as a wonderful focal point. the colours are beautiful, i especially love the clouds moving over the mountains and the shadows they have created on the sides of the mountains.

heheh quando penso che in questo momento Castelluccio sia sotto la neve, questo tappeto di colori sembra stranissimo. La luce calorosa � uno spettacolo e la chiesetta posizionato a sinistra del cornice � la ciliegina sulla torta.

Hello Valter,

Look likes a scene of a Western of Sergio Lenone.
The picture is nice open and wide. The lines of
the fields and the path creates a nice depth.
