CERI, in the municipality of the province of Rome in Cerveteri, Etruscan former home, located on a tuff cliff feature that once had access difficulties. Passed from the Etruscans to the Romans and later the barbarians. The first direct news on Ceri one has in a Bull of Pope Gragorio IX of 1236, the investiture of Romano Bonaventura as Bishop of the Diocese of Porto suburbicarian. In 1503, after being the Normans and vassal of Cola di Rienzo, then feud Alberteschi, the Counts of Anguillara and Orsini, had to endure a siege of thirty days from the Duke Valentino (Cesare Borgia). Passed before the Dukes of Cesi, then to the Borromeo family and was bought in 1721 by the Odescalchi family. In 1833, Ceri was bought by Prince Alessandro Torlonia and enjoyed a period of rebirth, becoming in 1863 an exclusive village of the same master Torlonia who left after the Second World War. In the small village is the Shrine of Our Lady of Candles (Our Lady of Candles Mother of Mercy), where in ancient paintings of 1100 covering the right wall of the nave. Stories of Genesis in the first register in the second stories of Jacob, Joseph and Moses, S. George, other Saints, the Crucifixion of S. Andrea and S. Sylvester in the bottom. In the sanctuary are the relics of St. Pope Felix II long protector of the village. Today, the shrine is visited by many pilgrims, school trips and groups from the considerable cultural interest. On the cliff overlooking the Palazzo Torlonia, with its magnificent halls filled with frescoes. Today the Palazzo Torlonia is used for meetings, conferences and weddings is surrounded by an enchanted garden with rare botanical species. The Church and the Palace are surrounded by narrow streets and houses recently restored that cause countless tourists come to visit the medieval village. In the surrounding countryside were found Etruscan, mounds and more. In the dense forest that surrounds the walls of the village stands the church of St. Pope Felix II (theater of the legendary miracle of oxen refused to carry his relics to Rome after his martyrdom), a grinder and an old fountain.

Ciao caro Valter,
A fascinating note (after I translated it with Google!) about this magnificent place. And what a picture!
I suspect that you might have used HDR manipluation with this one - am I right? The colours are wonderful and have an almost "glowing" quality, particularly the lovely yelowish stonework of that beautiful archway. And the contrast of the stonework against the dark sky is fabulous!
Excellent composition, lovely colours, perfect light and exquisite details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Valter,
there are some who do not like HDR photo's and there are some that do. i fall into the later, i think it is a natural progression of photograph and i like the sympathic way you have worked this photo.
good subject matter and good colours, well done

Ciao Valter ,
The perspective on this gate and this fortress is excellent . I like the effect of the HDR , combinated with a threatening sky . It would have been better without the modern lamp , but not easy to avoid it .

Hello Valter,
nicely done HDR. You found interesting location, chose very good POV and composed your photo in neat and elegant way. I like how the open door invites the eye to go further and makes me curios what is behind.
Great colors, too.
Well done!

Hi Valter,
The processing really enhances the clouds and the feeling of drama over this ancient gate. A very good POV and a very impressive view!

Ciao Valter,
HDR d un risultato notevole, soprattutto per la luce ed i colori sulle fortificazioni. Il punto di vista e l'inquadratura sono belle, la composizione interessante, in quanto la nota. Bravo.
Buona serata

While I think perhaps the HDR treatment is a little too strong, Valter, you have brought out amazing texture, contrast and color from this shot. The combination of the gray, stormy sky and the brightness of the gate is beautiful, and the POV fantastic - looks like an amazing place to explore. While I'd like to see a more naturalistic version, I can certainly appreciate what you've offered here!

Ciao Valter
un HDR molto discreto ed elegante, che valorizza le antiche mura in modo splendido.
Peccato il lampione troppo moderno, ma non certo colpa tua (anche se potevi segarlo ;) )
Un grosso saluto

Hello Valter - Superb vantage point, I love the way you have captured the feel of walking up the hill and the whole approach to the hill-top buildings is beautifully conveyed. Your PP work has brought out the textures in the stonework very well and given the shot a mystical quality. Warm regards rosemary

Caro Valter

Hello Valter,
very good approach to HDR.Iエm glad youエve tried it out.The scene itself is beautiful and the cloudy sky you achieved by your processing adds some kind of nice, but also gloomy feeling to the scene.I like it!
Have a nice day

Hi Valter
The treatment look surreal to me, an immense capture of this ancient ruins with a remarkable effect in the sky area and the whole scene. Theres' a haunting quality about it too with mysterious feel with the highlighted and your processing is so appealing, resulting in this attractive scene no doubt. Fine catch, Congrats.
kind regards

Hello Valter,
HDR can work or not work - here I think that it works very well as it has increased the drama of the image with the stormy sky and luminous light on the stonework. Fabulous old architecture that has been very well presented.
Kind Regards, Ann
