Photographer's Note

The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is the main church and the most famous monument of Atri, three thousand towns in the Adriatic a few kilometers from Pescara.
When Atri was founded around the XI-XII century BC, in the area of co-cathedral stood the cyclopean walls that surrounded the city.
The Romans conquered Atri in 290 BC, made the fortune of the city and enlarged, then beat the Cyclopean walls, and always in the area occupied today by the co-cathedral built a temple dedicated to Hercules.

La basilica di Santa Maria Assunta � la chiesa principale ed il monumento pi� famoso di Atri, trimillenaria citt� d'arte dell'Abruzzo adriatico a pochi chilometri da Pescara.
Quando Atri fu fondata intorno al XII-XI secolo a.C., nella zona della concattedrale sorgevano delle mura ciclopiche, che cingevano la citt�.
I Romani conquistarono Atri nel 290 a.C., fecero la fortuna della citt� e la ingrandirono, quindi abbatterono le mura ciclopiche e sempre nell'area occupata oggi dalla concattedrale costruirono un tempio dedicato ad Ercole.

splendida citt�, ricca di storia.
Strano taglio, a dire il vero non ho neanche capito se mi piace o no :)
Per� incuriosisce molto, di sicuro, la qualit� � eccellente (come sempre) e il b&w ci sta proprio bene.

Superb monochrome photo, excellent light & clarity, nice arrangement. Your low angle viewpoint is excellent, and the focusing perfect. I like to see the men at the church corner, they are adding nice life to the scene. Highest quality B&W photo.
