Villa of Acqualacastagna - Spoleto (PG)
Small medieval hillside village, built under two ancient watchtowers, located about 725 meters above sea level, on the southwestern side of Monte Forcella, in an dominant position over the ancient route between Terni and Spoleto. It is mentioned in the list of villas in the Municipality of Spoleto in 1279; in the Municipal Statute of 1279 it is among the centers which have control over the Via Flaminia and the protection of travelers' safety, in the stretch between Strettura and the Somma pass.
The houses are placed in staggered rows joined together by overpasses, to allow the passage of the road, the houses are mainly two-storey, the ground floor generally used as a stable and storage.
Inside the inhabited nucleus is the Church of San Giovanni Battista, close to complete ruin, along the road that leads to Strettura is the small Church of Madonna del Carmine.
