Photographer's Note
I was surprised how many friends of this site know about Norcia's tradition of cured meats. In fact this remains one of the reasons why tourists come to this city. After the earthquake, most of the shops were destroyed, now the shopping takes place in a suburban street built entirely of wooden houses, which you can see in the 2 WS, and despite the tragedy that has been experienced here, we still try to smile as you can see in the main photo.

Hello Luciano,
Both WS are interesting for showing how commercial life goes on provisionally after the disaster, but no doubt the main photo was well chosen to catch everyone's attention. Personally I prefer to taste other parts of the pig than the head, so I appreciate that this one is just for looking at. Maybe it has worn the face mask since the swine flu of 2009. ;-) A very original and amusing TE contribution.
Have a nice weekend.

Ciao : Luciano
In desert countries, wild boars are symbolized as foreign pagan invaders. I thought about why Islamic countries don't eat pork. In the desert, water is very scarce and precious. Pig feces smell bad and if you raise them near a well,
Urine seeps into the ground and pollutes the well easily. And pigs eat grains that humans eat. Medieval grains were very precious, but it would be the cause of extreme disgust as pigs were easily eaten up. In southern China and northern Vietnam, pork is smoked and eaten for several years. In Siberia, Russia, pork is more expensive than beef because of the severe cold. In China, the Communist Party is very nervous when pork prices soar. Although ham production technology in Europe, Germany, Spain, Italy and Switzerland is well developed, it is probably because it is isolated from the mountainous areas and the only long-term preserved food of the Age of Exploration is pickled pork.. Wild boar is also a delicacy in Korea. On the other hand, tigers and wolves that eat wild boars have recently become extinct in Korea, and the number of wild boars has increased, causing serious crop damage. If kill a wild boar, the government will pay $200.
Passa un bel weekend.

Hello Luciano, a shot to make us smile, certainly an eye catcher!
The two w/s pictures show us the resilience of the people, creating an alternative and possibly safer way of carrying on with their businesses.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a good w/e.
Kind regards, Jean.

funny they used the boar with mask, nice images showing as the vendors got a new place and a new chance after earthquake.
here in my region we are being invaded by european boars, they came from uruguay and nowadays there are groups of guys hunting them as a sport (hunting native animals is a crime in brazil) but boars are not native and they are bringing many damages here.
take care

Hello Luciano,
I'm afraid I haven't made the link between Norcia and Italian meat specialties...
Is this a trophy of a wild boar you shot to take with you as decoration in your bar?
Very funny with the mouth mask. But in the world are some known cases of animals infected with COVID-19. So the wild boars might as well be careful.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luciano,
I knew cats could get COVID but I didn't realize boars could, too. But it's better to be safe than sorry, I guess, even if the boar is already dead.

Hello Luciano,
Lol! The mask wearing pig will most probably avoid both Covid and Swine flu! Good sharpness and a nice catchlight in the eye. Tfs!

Ciao Luciano,
To be honest I didn't know much about that region so your photos make a good introduction. This one is quite humorous indeed. I hope many years from now the masks will be a distant memory.
Very well seen and photographed,

Ciao Caro Luciano,
You concentrate on the humour, which is important but I was also pleasantly surprised by the effort at continuing to operate as a busy village. The new shopping area looks both vibrant and colourful.
The houses may have suffered but the community is still strong!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Luciano,
A good photo of this pig's head against the wooden wall. A good thing he is wearing a face mask, you never know what kind of diseases pigs might be able to spread. Well spotted.

Hi Luciano.
Well, yes, the humor that we do not lack even in bad times, very funny that pig head with the mask.
Very well set up these temporary tents outside the historic center, also the site looks great with those large trees that provide good shade.
Very nice coloring, in some very attractive tones.
Optimal brightness management and superb sharpness.
Very well done. My congratulations.
All the best and have a good start to the week.
Luis.
Fantastic also the WS.
