The UniCredit Tower is a skyscraper in the Milan business center and with its 231 meters high at the spire it is the tallest skyscraper in Italy. It was inaugurated on 11 February 2014 and soon became a symbol of Milan, thanks above all to its imposing spire, the building has a very sinuous shape. It has a fully glazed north facade and a south facade modulated by the horizontal lines of the sunshades designed for a more correct solar radiation. The characteristic and iconic spire has a height of about 80.5 meters and was assembled piece by piece thanks to a powerful helicopter and a group of skilled workers on October 15, 2011, under the eyes of many citizens gathered in various points of the metropolis to assist in the operation.
From the structural point of view, the spire has the shape of a spiral whose section decreases towards the top. Its location in an eccentric position with respect to the building has led to considerable static studies also in relation to the thrust of the prevailing winds. The study of the effect of atmospheric agents led to the choice of making it in perforated steel, so as to avoid the formation of ice.

La Torre UniCredit � un grattacielo nel Centro direzionale di Milano e con i suoi 231 metri di altezza alla guglia � il grattacielo pi� alto d'Italia. E' stata inaugurata l'11 febbraio 2014 ed � divenuto ben presto un simbolo di Milano, grazie soprattutto alla sua imponente guglia, l'edificio ha una forma molto sinuosa. Presenta una facciata a nord completamente vetrata e una a sud modulata dalle linee orizzontali dei frangisole studiati per una pi� corretta irradiazione solare. La caratteristica e iconica guglia ha un'altezza di circa 80,5 metri.ﾈ stata assemblata pezzo per pezzo grazie a un potente elicottero e a un gruppo di operai specializzati il 15 ottobre 2011, sotto gli occhi dei molti cittadini riunitisi in vari punti della metropoli per assistere all'operazione.
Dal punto di vista strutturale la guglia ha forma di spirale la cui sezione va riducendosi verso l'alto. La sua collocazione in posizione eccentrica rispetto all'edificio ha comportato notevoli studi di staticit� anche in relazione alla spinta dei venti predominanti. Lo studio dell'effetto degli agenti atmosferici ha portato a scegliere di realizzarla in acciaio traforato, cos� da evitare la formazione di ghiaccio.

Hello Luciano,
I remember the Pirelli Tower of Milan which is close to the central station. But to see this newer UniCredit Tower, I haven't been to Milan recently enough.
Splendid view upwards that beautifully displays the many undulating lines.
Do you know if visitors can go to an higher floor of the building?

I like both photos. The reflection of the sun in the main entry is its attraction. The overall view in the WS is that one's attraction.

I guess that Rome's tallest would have to be in Milan. A great upwards view point with the sun providing that extra something.

I thought Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the new symbol of Milan. ;-)
The two photos are fairly similar, but I agree with your choice of main post. The overexposed reflection of the sun could have been a disadvantage but has actually become the detail that makes the photo so eye-catching. The slightly darker background and tighter crop also make me prefer this to the WS. But both photos are well composed and make the building almost as impressive as Zlatan.

A fantastic photo up the round corner of the large glass office tower. I really like the curve at left and the patterns of all the glass panes. The blue sky makes a good background and the sun got nicely reflected in the middle.

Great photos presenting the tallest building in Italy. I prefer the main upload which has this strong eye catching reflection of the sun in the centre.

This is a very wonderful, modern building. I love its flowing, curved lines!
Though I really like this shot, and find the oe spot a useful focal point, I can't help thinking that the w/s just has the edge; it seems more dynamic, with waves giving momentum, like a rocket!

I discovered it when I was near the railway station and I saw it at distance. it was being finished then and I took some photos despite the night was arriving in that moment. excellent images.

Ciao Luciano, I know this skyscraper (I was there too :)) and I have some photos of it. In my pictures, it looks a bit similar to Burj Khalifa, but only 1/4 of it. Here excellent upward composition. Great with the cloudless sky. I found interesting also the building with the greenery that is not far from there.

I have so many photos from Milan, also from the places not visited by tourists.
