The large mask with wide open mouth recalls the entrance to Hell of Dante's memory also in the writing, which originally read: LEAVE EVERY THOUGHT YOU INTAKE, incorrectly transformed into EVERY THOUGHT FLIES. Inside there is a bench and a table, according to tradition, Vicino Orsini died here.

It's a funny photo but the man could be in great danger if the monster decides to close its mouth. It's a very eye-catching photo and it's well exposed.

Ha! Ha! Silvio, this looks as if the figure has been swallowed whole!
I can understand how this links with Dante's Inferno, with the circles of Hell! The open mouth, with protruding teeth and staring eyes are quite horrific - but not to this guy!!

Hello Silvio, if the light was fading, coming upon this large mask I can imagine that it might give one quite a fright!
I like that there is someone emerging from the mouth, it gives us a better idea of the scale.
The light was favourable for you, with the dappled light coming through the trees.

you could easily see this being used in some sort of horror movie, it just has that look and feel to it. at night time it must really look haunting. love the subject

This scultpure made me think of Bocca della Verit�, it would be a giant version of it and also, while the version in Rome would cut of your hand, this one would squeeze you completely.
The presence of the person is critical here.
