Argynnis aglaja (Linn, 1758) Vulgar name: Aglaia Family: Nymphalidae Distinctive characters: aa 23-32 mm. Similar sexes. It can be confused with A. adippe and A. niobe, which have a submarginal series of reddish spots with a silver center in the piap., But on the back it is characteristic. Biology and habitat: edges of the woods, meadows and clearings from the hilly to the mountain level and culminating up to over 2500 m a.s.l. Only one annual generation, with flickering in June-July. Distribution: present throughout Italy except Sardinia and the island of Elba. See the WS for the other side of the wings
