The Moselle (/moʊˈzɛl/ moh-ZEL,[1] French: [mɔzɛl] (About this soundlisten); German: Mosel [ˈmoːzl̩] (About this soundlisten); Luxembourgish: Musel [ˈmuzəl]) is a river that rises in the Vosges mountains and flows from western Germany through Luxembourg,and north-eastern France. It is a left bank tributary of the Rhine, which it joins at Koblenz. A small part of Belgium is in its basin as it includes the Sauer and the Our.

Its lower course "twists and turns its way between Trier and Koblenz along one of Germany's most beautiful river valleys."
In this section the land to the north is the Eifel which stretches into Belgium; to the south lies the Hunsr�ck. The river flows through a region that was cultivated by the Romans.
Today, its hillsides are covered by terraced vineyards where "some of the best Rieslings grow".
Many castle ruins sit on the hilltops above wine villages and towns along the slopes.
Traben-Trarbach with its art nouveau architecture and Bernkastel-Kues with its traditional market square are two of the many tourist attractions on the Moselle river.

Hi Constantino,
Impressive view of Mosel showing it's numerous curves. From this high angle it looks surprisingly narrow. The weather was exceptionally clear.

Hello Costantino!

Seems it requires a Greek to show me the beauties of my homeland...
I tried to identify this aerial on Google Maps and came to the conclusion that you show us the Moselle section where the river is common property of Germany AND Luxembourg as both adjacent countries share the responsibility.
In the foreground: Chaves (LU), then Wormeldange (LU) and Wincheringen (DE) with a bridge, in far distance Nittel (right, DE) and Grevenmacher (left, LU).
I recently bought two bottles of Luxembourg Moselle wine from Stadtbredimus and I was quite content with it.

I have heard about this river so many times and I have seen lovely views photographed along it but I never had a chance to visit this part of Europe.
