Capriana Winter Church, a photo from Chisinau, North

Photographer's Note

The interior of Capriana Winter Church which is about 40 km north west of Chisinau. Constructed in 1903, it was closed during the Soviet Occupation and the frescoes were painted over in white. They have since been restored. I liked the shafts of sunlight here coming through the stained glass window. More information here:

Hi Chris,

The chandelier is the main attraction of the scene. The point od view is showing the details of the chandelier. The light coming through the stained glass has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris, I am always interested in anything from Moldova. I like your presentation of the interior of this church. The lighting served you well. I have polarizing filters on all my lenses, but I never keep them on for internal, low light shots like this. I am surprised you did so well with your photo. In your travels in Moldova, do you remember passing through a district or community Telenesti? The Soviets appeared there in 1939 when it was still a part of Romania. People living there who were not native to the area had two choices, go to Siberia or return to their land of origin, even if there heritage was many many years earlier. i.e. An Austrian, who was born in Russia, many years earlier was forced to go to Austria or go to Siberia. Hello Chris, It was the often fate of the churches in Soviet Union - they were destroyed, or become magazines, or the frescoes painted in white and so on. But fortunately many of them (but not all of course) are restored. Nice interior, the rays coming from window are really great.

The colour detail in the beams of light are quite wonderful Chris, I don't think I have ever seen a shot like this before and I am most impressed with your management. How you got the coloured beams so well defined is beyond me! Well done. Additionally, I love the way the gilded candelabra is lit and isolated from the rest of the scene. A pleasure to see.
