Photographer's Note

An architectural gem of the 16th century, Bender Fortress is located near the medieval city of Bender on the right bank of the Dniestr River. Originally built as a wooden fort, it was developed into a full structure during the Ottoman period and was of great historical importance. Made of limestone and brick, it is now surrounded by a Russian military zone with a checkpoint at its entrance.

Hello Zbigniew,
An interesting place and fortress of which I never heard before.
The cannon is well placed, doesn't block the view at all and adds more depth to the picture.

Hello Zbigniew,

We have here in Flemish Belgium, close to Belgian coast, got not much snow maybe four days!
You chose an excellent angle with the canon in foreground if real eye catcher on this nice picture.
Also the fortress with big wall and towers makes your picture attractive.
Composition and presentation are superb. TFS.

Imponująca twierdza i dobra prezentacja z tą niezbyt dużą armatą.
W Europie została mi juz tylko Mołdawia i Andorra. Widzę, że jednak do Mołdawii warto sie wybrać.

I like the well saturated colors of the scene, especially the orange roofs making such a nice contrast with the blue sky! The perspective is very nice to show the fortress, and the canon in the foreground helps giving very good depth to the image! Wonderful composition!

Hi Zbigniew,

A very interesting photo, with both a good foreground and background. This place is well known in our Swedish history as our king, Charles XII, spent some time here and also introduced the word "kalabalik" in our vocabulary. A well taken picture.

Czesc Zbigniew,
widziales kawal swiata. Sporo z miejsc ktore nadal sa na liscie moich marzen jak np Namibia. Tutaj tak malo znany na TE kraj. Pamietam dyskusje z niektorymi ludzmi na TE ktorzy mowili ze do Moldawii ich nie ciagnie. To zdjecie moze wplynac na zmiane ich zdania.
Wspaniale zachowana twierdza.
Bardzo atrakcyjna kompozycja z armata na pierwszym planie.
Miejsce robi wrazenie.
