Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Earlier this month we had a delightful mini TE Getogether in Netherlands, where Viviane (Porteplume) and her husband Chris were our hosts and treated us (Christine - JMCE, Will - willperrett, my husband Len - Lennoland and myself) to several days of exciting Dutch discoveries.
On our first day in the country, we walked around Tholen, where I took this photograph. What could be more Dutch than clogs and windmills!
I had not unpacked my camera so this was taken on my phone.
I will add a real windmill in the workshop.
Enjoy your day, Bev :-)

Witaj Bev!
Clogs and windmills are the symbol of the Netherlands.
I love windmills.
Interesting framing, colors and light.
Pavement and rug are impressive.
A wonderful windmill in WS.
Good morning.

Hello Beverley,
A great first photo from your recent trip to The Netherlands of our preferred footwear! It looks even better with that other icon of the country on them, a windmill. Only the tulips are missing, but it was October after all.

Hi Bev,the pic is like a metaphore to a "welcome in Netherlands". Very nice idea and composition to open the pics from your dutch meeting, and beautiful too the windmill in the WS,the quality of sharpness isn't the best but i know wht reading your note. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
Do we never get rid of our image of clogs and mills, followed by weed and tulips?
And then also in double Dutch which has different meanings, some of which are not so flattering to us. Let's just keep it here jumping rope with two ropes. 😉
A nice start for your report about your visit to the Netherlands. 😊
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Bev,
Maybe this is a bit of a clich, but so what? It's a good composition and very eye-catching and the WS is also a nice photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Bev,
Les deux symboles d'un pays dans la m麥e image c'est plaisant et remarquable la fois. On ne voit pas la diff駻ence entre une photo prise avec ton appareil et ton t駘駱hone. Maintenant, il faut penser au souvenir rapporter.
Amicalement

Hello Beverley,
When I was a small kid the people of my grandparents' age also wore clogs to work in the garden. So from my farthest memories I know clogs. It didn't take long for them to disappear completely from everyday life in Belgium. I think the same evolution happened in the same time in the Netherlands. But there clogs became a kind of symbol for the country and they became really 'exploited' on a tourist level.
When someone talks to me about clogs in these days, I no longer think of my childhood but of the Netherlands :)
Did you try to walk in clogs?
The lines of cobblestones lead nicely to the pair of clogs.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev
Surprisingly I never saw any tulips, clogs, or windmills in Amsterdam. The stereotypes are further out in the countryside. Reasonably sharp and nice textural contrasts. Tfs!

Hi Beverley and thanks for your latest critique.
Those clogs are typical symbol to Holland, I has a miniature at home in Delft-blue porcelain.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

the image is very interesting and has a graphic mood. I liked the contrast of the yellow with the grey-black mood of the compo.
take care
