Hello Chris,
I wasn't aware of this sculpture, which might symbolize traditional Nordic Social democracy, socialism with a human touch. It's definitely not the hand of Lenin holding the rose.
You might have given credit to the artist, Ola Enstad (1942�2013).

A great photo of this large fist and rose, they stand out so well from the darker background with a rather boring building, which helps to focus all the attention on the sculpture.

PS - To answer your question, Dutch is more closely related to German, even though most Dutch people speak English more fluently than German

Fascinating artwork and a powerful message. I like both photos a lot, the one witht he flash isolates the sculpture from the background whereas the long exposure one displays wonderful warm colours.

Quite powerful sculpture. The way it is designed as if the fist pushes through the pavement is brilliant. Steel rose looks good too. The flash worked well.
