Autumn Mood 4, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

An elderly local lady told me that this farm was abandoned for 40 years but it was recently sold to someone who wanted to take up farming.

Another intriguing matter is a large monument like stone that is erected on the premises (see workshop image). Mr Bakken, who died as a rather young man in Copenhagen almost 150 years ago, was a successful inventor emigrating from this farm in his youth.

A second connection is an image posted a few weeks ago, showing a two story building far away in the mountains (End of The Road/photo1301738). This building also used to belong to the Bakken family, who was quite influential in these parts of the world in days gone by.

If you take time to listen the chance is you get to hear one or another interesting story, that adds life to the images!

This picture provides a marvellous sample of Norwegian rural architecture and reflects the typical atmosphere of late autumn when the leaves have almost all fallen from the trees. The composition is very pleasant, showing the wooden houses perfectly integrated into their environment. The sun rays emphasizes the red one very nicely.

Story told here give a whole different dimenssion to the tale by the photo itself, Pablo.
Those red hut throughout Norway, are nice spots in the rural country, also have a history to tell.

It is flowing so that the height of summer to autumn, fall, winter, winter to summer again, like the hands of a clock. Colors from green, to yellow, from yellow to white endless rainbow of colors. Black and white in two days as a mouse nibbling the tree of life ends. Life is like a film strip and movie screens goes rapidly flowing. .

Really interesting story. One may be too long for young people to sit at home for 40 years. But in terms of an old man going through 40 years I can say as little as one second.

Also he is extremely wanting, yet his needs are indeed many. Also he is lazy and incapable, yet life's responsibilities are most burdensome. in brazil if a farm would be abandoned form 40 years it would be covered with deep forest or would be invaded by people who would be its owner after 5 years living there.haha.

You have a whole collection of these lovely old farms!
They have a pretty colour of their own and with the colours added by the autumn the composition cannot fail to be a success! That intense red is an eye-catcher and stands out well in between the green and the blue.

Hello Pablo, Read your note with interest, especially the last line, I always try & talk to the people I photograph, I than come away not only with their photo but also feel I have in some way a small part of them. Again nice autumn colours but it's the red wall on the barn that attracts the initial attention. A lovely rural scene, as always well captured.

Good Morning Pablo,

There is something so beautiful about the deep red of the barn set amidst the greens of countryside. I have noticed that a lot of the barns in Canada and northern U.S.A. are painted similarly.
Your pov is well seen, snuggling the barn into the landscape and allowing it to stand out against the dark, conifer b/g.. There is a lovely movement of colour, diagonally across the frame.
