Photographer's Note
After seeing recent posts from Norway and the Lofoten Islands on TE, I feel the need to jump on board as well :)
Obviously this isn't a 'pretty' photo, which is what we usually see from Northern Norway, this is much more gritty and on the unusual side.
What are we looking at here? It's a bus crash involving only 1 bus, no other vehicle, up against Mother Nature. And guess who won...of course its Mother Nature.
I pulled my car over as I noticed this bus sitting on the Sea Bed Floor...thinking...how on earth did it get down there? The tide was out, so i took advantage and headed down to take photos.
As i was taking photos i was approached by a local, which is almost impossible into itself haha, so we started up a conversation.
Long story short is that this bus was peacefully parked on the side of the road as it should be. Mother Nature kicked up a major wind storm, and it sent the parked bus tumbling down the small elevated road into the position it is now.
That must have been one major gust of wind, but thats what the local woman told me. It was a recent storm, the bus hadn't been sitting here more than a week or two.
On the one hand I don't believe her, but on the other hand....why else would there be a bus sitting on the sea bed floor???? And what reason would she have to lie to me? So perhaps its true. For now lets say its a minor mystery.
Anyways, finding this bus with its smashed out windows, left for dead, is exactly the type of subjects I love to find. So it was a good day for me!

Hi Craig my today neighbour
Typical of your style with the use of your ultra wide angle and an abandonned rusty bus. I wouldn't pay a travel ticket to Iceland only to see this scene!
Take care

Hello Craig,
Nature 1 - Bus 0. Unusual daily life composition well realised. The warm coloured vegetation in the foreground makes a lovely contrast with the snow kissed mountains. Thank goodness no-one was on board at the time.

Bonjour, cher Craig,

Hello Craig,
I had to read all your notes to satisfy myself about what had happened to this bus! Strangely, though an inanimate object, it resembles something sitting on a nest!
It certainly fulfils the criteria that you love so much to photograph, abandoned, broken and mysterious. I think I would have known this was yours, without your name tag! 😉
It does however, make a strong and interesting focal point, well suited to your wide-angled treatment.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
The picture is absolutely not bad, only it subject is les not pleasant.
Very sharpness and nice clear picture.
But the mountains in background are a nice addition.
Composition and presentation are very pleasant.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Bonjour Craig,

Hello Craig,
Like Bev, I would probably have recognized this as one of your photos anytime. This could probably have been an ordinary road in Afghanistan 50 years ago, except that they didn't have that kind of buses then. But even for Iceland this is a strange location for a bus - whichever way it got there. Could you get inside it? Was there any left luggage to examine? ;-) It's a weird photo, but there aren't enough of those on TE, so I welcome it.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Craig,
So you even came across abandoned buses! It is a very old one, my guess would have been that it had been there for ages already, not just two weeks. Great composition and angle of shooting. The cloudy weather and the snow-capped mountains in the background add a great and fitting mood to the photo.

Thats really an unusual situation, I think the bus will be stand there until it's completely rusty, then it will be 2:0 for nature, very well captured

Hello Mac
The biggest clue is that the tires are still inflated. Did it have evidence of a roll to cause the windows to be destroyed? The entire bus looks like a hood ornament for the fjords. Especially the moose emblems on the front. Interesting image foe sure. A great one to study.

Hello Craig,
This isn't a typical view from Lofoten, but it's a nice one. The landscape is attractive, and I like the brown tufts on the ground. I'm not sure what they are, though. The moose decals on the front of the bus are also cool. :-) Maybe someone eventually came to remove the bus a few days later...or maybe it will remain there forever. We'll never know unless you return and try to photograph it again. :-)

Hi Craig,
The sea weeds are framing well the bus. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains and of the damaged bus. The earth tints are quite strong. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig.
Very interesting note, which explains the anachronism of seeing this bus, in what is the seabed, now at low tide as you say, without a doubt it is a surprising photo and of course it was necessary to capture it. Point of view, sharpness, luminosity and the composition chosen are excellent.
A very interesting photo. I like it.
You have a good day.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hi Craig
Sounds like a plausible story. Good angled pov and sadly most vehicles caught on a beach quickly rust unless they are towed out immediately and hosed down with fresh water. Tfs!

Hi Craig,
So, this is not one of the abandoned things in Iceland series! Equally fascinating view and interesting story. And true I think. At least it seems that there's still air in the tyres.

Hello Craig,
What a place to find a bus! The use of wide-angle lens was obviously a good choice.
Have a nice evening!

Hi Craig,
What a remarkable photograph - and what a remarkable story too!
To me it sounds a bit unlikely that this 'bus went tumbling down here off the road and landed like this upright on its wheels with only apparently the front windows broken. If it had indeed tumbled I should have thought that the roof would have caved in and there would have been much more damage to it.
Anyway, from the photographic point of view this is yet another triumph for your super-wide "city" lens which has exaggerated the perspective here, slightly distorting the 'bus but making the foreground grasses and rocks really "pop" while the 'bus itself is strongly depicted against the distant snow capped mountains.
A fine strong composition with glorious light, fine colours and, as always, exceptional details and clarity.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.

The most unusual, for me, is the fact that the bus is standing on all four wheels as if someone had driven it there, abandoned it and just walked away. Obviously, from your note, it's quite clear that it would not have been possible. We just sometimes forget how unforgiving nature is in this kind of remote places and that's the reason why they are... well... remote.
Great shot, taking in quite a lot of the foreground to show all that space around the bus.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Craig,
And ? Did you enter the bus ? Have you tried to start the engine ?
I hope the parked bus was not blown away with passengers.
I remember you've once found a plane wreck in Iceland.
Did you ever find an abandoned train wreck ?
A very special but nice foreground. However it seems very treacherous to sink through.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Craig,
It's a beautiful find. I wonder how much of it gets covered in high tide. I'd love to see it all rusted out in a few years.
Regards,
MT
PS. You obviously saw my "filler" note. You can go back and read the real one now.

Hi Craig,
I like very much the wide angle effect here! Brilliant compo!
What would be even more spooky: if there were some skeletons sitting in the bus :)
But I cannot tell from this angle ...
Great pic really: the setting is spectacular and the bus quite old stylish and adding so much interest!
Excellent work!

curious aspect of these dead plants in FG, the skeleton of the bus as main personage and the mountain covered with snow ahead. a nice view, with a touch of terror movie.

Skipped this one for some reason, Craig.
Obviously after an accident it was left to rust, but as you presernting this bus - I think it was left in a special "pose" against the beautiful nature.
Odd but attractive scene.
Thanks for your supporting critique.
Enjoy the holiday.
