Photographer's Note
After photos from the archive, here are three pictures taken today. I went to the railway stations in Warsaw to see the situation with the refugees from Ukraine. It is estimated that 1330 thousand Ukrainians came to Poland (probably more) and over 200 000 to Warsaw. The solidarity of the Polish people is amazing. They offer accommodation in their homes, give food, buy medicaments, bring prams for children. All the help is done mainly by the volunteers or the local governments.
This is the scene from the Warsaw East Station. The children are playing. many came with their animals, like cats or dogs. I can't imagine a situation that they packed a suitcase and left everything to go runaway. but probably leaving in Ukraine their husbands or brothers.
They have many problems - the journey was often long, they are hungry, often they are no place to go. They heard about the problems with ATMs, so they took the money and now can't change hryvna for zloty.
Have I made something to help also? I feel that I should. Probably the easiest way would be just to donate money. Maybe to be a translator? They look for people speaking Russian. Somehow I do not know how I would feel with an Ukrainian family at home. but some of my frinends offered accomodation. I have not remembered such signs of solidarity since Solidarity time in 1980-1981,

Hello Malgo,
You are documenting a sad situation that shouldn't be taking place, but I do appreciate your photos. It looks like a nursery right near the doors of the station, with colorful drawings and toys, but these children are living through an unimaginable reality. My heart hurts for the people of Ukraine... The green smiley looks too happy for this situation, so I don't give it this time.

Ciao Malgo,an extremely dramatic situation, fortunately this time the Europeans have behaved impeccably, and Italy is also welcoming many refugees ... as opposed to what Europe has always offered to those fleeing from other wars, from it created itself. Your photos are really interesting, I have seen them all on facebook and I thank you very much for your contribution, it will be a difficult period, we hope it is the end and not the beginning. Have a good night! Luciano

Hi Malgo,
Poland is doing a lot to accomodate the refugees coming in from Ukraine. It will not probably get better in the war zone. A lot of persons will suffer. The point of view is showing the details of the all to assit the refugees. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
This reminds me of scenes from the major railway stations in Stockholm and other Swedish cities in the autumn of 2015, when thousands and thousands of Syrians, Iraqis and Afghans arrived here. But of course Poland is much more overwhelmed right now, being the closest neighbour with the longest border. I hope this enthusiasm and generosity will last, but I fear the situation may change if the war drags on for a long time.
The photos are fairly chaotic, but how could they be anything else in this situation? It was a good initiative to take such news snapshots where beauty and nice compositions are less important.
Best regards,
Gert

Pozdrawiam serdecznie

Hello Malgo,
The first Ukrainian refugees have arrived in the Netherlands as well, but not nearly as many as in Poland of course. It is heart-warming to see the solidarity of the Polish people on the news, you are doing an amazing job helping the victims of this horrific war. A good impression from the railway station. The many games and drawings add some colour to the photo and hopefully also to the children's lives, even under these terrible circumstances.

Hello Malgo,
It is so sad for these people, driven out of their homes but there is no doubt how big-hearted the people of Poland have been. They have welcomed, fed and housed thousands of desperate families!
The plight of Ukraine and Ukrainian people has been passed around the world, except to Russia itself, which is being fed a feast of lies, about the heroism of the Russian Military and how it is saving Ukraine from the murderous exploits of the west!
Even in our little village, we have collected sanitary products and warm clothing or blankets, for the people of Ukraine and two specialists are on their way out there with monies collected from raffles and collections.
My warm regards and thanks to you and your people,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgorzata
It's a positive humane image which makes us realise how lucky and privileged we are to live in peace despite various faults. My thoughts are with them.

Hello Malgo,
This frame is more precious than the touristy photos from the Ukraine you have been posting. This is the reality of war - it's so sad, and these are the lucky ones!

Hi Malgo,
Thanks for taking the time to document this. Lucky for you that you are not a journalist in Ukraine! 2 Americans were shot at, and one later died. They were press photographers and journalists. Terrific response from the Polish people welcoming the refugees. Tfs!
