Photographer's Note
Back to autumnal Tatra Mts. - Czarny Staw Gasienicowy - Black Tarn in Gasienicowa valley.
After some panoramas i would like to show also a couple of close-ups. For the first post i chose this view from the Karb Pass (1853m) under Koscielec summit on Black Tarn situated over 200 m lower. This is one of my favourite places in Tatras. Surrounded closely by steep rocky summits is somehow like oasis in overall graphite landscape. It's extremaly easy to lose count of time sitting up there and looking down.
Small steeply path leads to Granaty Peaks, another one along the lake leads to famous for its vistas Zawrat Pass.
I didn't saturate colours here, only played a bit with levels and contrast.

Hi Mat,
very interesting composition - particularly, the different textures and patterns of the slopes and rocks. I also like the idea of leaving the horizon out of the picture, which often results in abstract/graphical compositions.
Nice work!

Dear Matt
I have my selfish reason to choose this particular image out of your valuable collection.
It supports the notion, that there is not much of a sense to name the geographical subject, if the subject is un-recognizable in the image. Sample: Sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, when the only things we see is water and red sun and clouds (not to mention that you can lie thru your teeth). This wonderful photo is a sample of logical description. Even if you lie, there is always someone who could say: It's a lie.
Matt, it's a great show of professionalism.
Salute George
