Photographer's Note
Who doesnエt remember to put a sticky tongue on a stamp, place it in a white envelope and then just send it to someone??? Wow...so special that was...
You donエt remember??? Well, too bad for you...:)))
New technologies, such as the web, brought a complete new world to people and that is changing the new generations way of comunicating each other...to think on this, you may imagine a simple situation:
Today you need to write your best friend, who is far away in a distant town...
What will you do??? I tell you: you just pick your mobile phone and send a message, or you just pick your pc and send a mail...and you do that in such a natural way, right? Nowadays TIME is money, and people are forgetting that TIME should be spent also to give and share things with those you love, and not to care only with material stuff...i donエt say that writing a mail or sending an sms canエt be a love act...but i donエt know...i remember the things i used to share when i was writing letters by hand and sending them to friends, girls, family....and i remember how great that was...so much things involved...and maybe the main diference was that to writte a letter by hand you spend more time with it..writing, getting stamps, take it to mailboxs....and all this time you were thinking on the person you were writing..Wasnエt that great??? gosh! i miss those times....
This is a public post box in some old street in Porto...you can see the "last mail pick up" time of the day...
These used to be the places where we used to post some of our feelings...

Again you are giving us a very effective combination of photo and note - I like your plea in favor of writing letters, and in fact I still like to do that. The photo is a very nice illustration of your point, and excels in interesting textures - the fading paint on the metal post box versus the gray wall. Well done, Marco.

Wow marco, again a great thought with a great picture from you. I think that the difference between those lost days and today is an act vs an action. Thinking, writing, getting a stamp, posting is all together an act with an emotional context. Sending a sms today is a pure technical action, which can obviously have an emotional context...sometimes ;-). Nice catch, good choice, the textures are so well rendered, your message is so well conveyed here...electronically though, Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes, i remember those times when we were writing letters by hand...i still preffer writing by hand, and reading from a paper...The letter may be shorter but you put much more thouhgt in to the words that you write. So i usually start on a paper...and then, since most people want an e-mail or...i have to type it again, oh well, i don't mind to share a bit extra of my time :). As always, your notes are thoughtfull and your picture accompany it well. Note and picture makes a lovely pair. And it is a nice picture, strong in colour and composition.

Fantastic note, and if it's any consolation to you, it seems a lot of us still like to write and read hand-written letters. On the other hand, without modern technology, you and I would never have "met", so as far as I am concerned, the "good old days" were good, but today is greater.
Nice colours and a very sharp shot.

aha, in a philosophical mood? But you are right; it's so nice to look at all the old letters you once received. But hey; you can print your e-mails! Okay, not quite the same...
Love this posting though... storng natural framing and nice contrasting colors. keep the mailbox alive!!

Nostalgic pic & note Marco! I love all the details & the well used look of this old letterbox & supporting wall. It seems that the ultima recolha for this box happened a while ago ;-)). And I must say that I'm very happy with the speed & convenience of the new e-communication....big distances have never been bridged so effortlessly...but I catch y'r drift. Very fine work!

Great textures and colour combination, Marco! Simple but strong in emanation composition, with fine element of nostalgy. Wonderful capture!

I like your note. Probably more than your photo :-)
Thank you for reminding us. My mother still refuses to read email even though I created an account for her and she still uses regular mail to send me greeting cards and letters.
You and her could get along well :-)
Nice shot too.

Wonderful use of colors here, Marco. I also like your centered composition. The mailbox--especially considering your note--seems to deserve it!
