Photographer's Note
Ponte Lus I is a metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. At the time of construction its span of 172 m was the longest of its type in the world.
The government held a competition for the construction of a metallic bridge over the Douro River on a site that was adjacent to an existing bridge that it would replace. T駮phile Seyrig had engineered the D. Maria Pia Bridge project nearby, whilst working as a partner of Gustave Eiffel. He now took sole responsibility for the new, major Lus I Bridge. The construction was begun in 1881 and the bridge opened on 31 October 1886 (the upper deck; the lower deck opened in 1887).

Hello Daniel,
An unmissable sight when visiting Porto! I like this unusual viewpoint and the presence of the bicycle. Also, the light and shadow contrasts. Fine technical realisation.

Hello Daniel,
There were some spectacular metal bridges built at the end of the 19th century and this is no exception! I like your viewpoint, which takes every advantage of the arch, detailing the materials and design, making it appear like a super roller coaster!
The bicycle is a nice touch, helping to define the scale.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Daniel, well chosen vertical format, your favourite. Excellent diagonal composition from under the bridge. Nice view of the steel impressive construction, charming bike. From this POV it doesn't look so horribly horribly high . Nice creative composition.

Hello Daniel,
a superb composition that brings the bridge so close to the distinct architecture of the riverside, it integrates it to the cityscape in a smart, graphic way. You found an original perspective and achieved excellent defintion of both the architectural features and the colours. The bicycle in the foreground and the colourful wash in the background add fine daily life details. I also like the atmosphere created by the play of light and shadow throughout. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania

Hello Daniel,
Smart choice of a vertical format to emphasise the height of the iron bridge. Good sharpness and the parked bicycle provides a fg focal point. Excellent graphic elements of the dark shadowed parts of the bridge against the lighter toned bg sky. The blue sky also contrasts well against the red roofs at left. Tfs.

Ciao Daniel
An impressive photo of this bridge. I love the tight pov, the excellent sharpness which details all the tradesmanship that has gone into building it. I also like the inclusion of the bicycle in the FG, together with the play of light and shade.
Well done, have a good Sunday
