Photographer's Note
Holiday ends in Peniche town, a fishing port and surfing spot of the Oeste coast of Portugal.
For some health reasons preventing me to travel further away this year, I found myself spending 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal. I reluctantly went, head down, I probably needed to be carried like a child for my first european summer holidays ever.
So I stood for 3 weeks in the sun, doing nothing almost, rubbing shoulders against the whole of northern Europe coming to get a suntan... and here now comes the spectrum of a long dark autumn and winter.
Definitely, Europe is not a holiday place for me.
How I wish I were yet in february, packing my case for a long haul remote destination in the sun.

Hi Luko, I hope recover in time to take off somewhere in the winter, though Portugal seems like a pretty nice compromise. I like a lot of elements about this image, the arrangement of people, the attractive wall windows and doors, and the traffic sign. Though I find the shadow a bit sitracting, was there a time whe the whole wall was lit?

Outstanding use of light and shadow, Luko. The "arrow of fate" in the middle carries us right from the light to the darkness. Beautiful colors, too. It doesn't look like you were suffering so terribly being in Peniche. There's always your camera, or a good book. Regards, Ken.

That area of shade on the right isn't doing it for me, although the jagged diagonal transition between light and shade is interesting. Maybe shifting the framing to the left a bit to include the balcony railings would have been an idea...
I like how you placed the passers-by at the bottom of the V though, and the way the direction arrow is on the light/shade transition.
Cheers,
Ben

feel your pain (broken clavicle preventing me from travelling this year) hope you're doing better. portugal should be a nice place to visit, "saving" europe for my retirement age though. going there in august though (or anywhere in europe)... what were you thinking?
nice shadow play, well arranged. i like the diagonal... the arrow makes the shot.. works for me well. good metering too... perhaps a few more pixels on top to include that third circle...

Welcome back!
A voir si je me trompe.

Hi Luko,
I like geometrics in this frame as it just kicks you in the
eye as soon as you open the thumbnail. Moreover, the people's
moving from light to shadow works as a metphor for your
saying "... and here now comes the spectrum of a long
dark autumn and winter."
... wonder what I'm gonna make of Portugal next month...
Cheers,
Robi
PS. Hope you feel better...

Although I won't say its your most stunning piece of work, it still does stand out for me, particularly that golden colour enhanced by the sunset. I enjoy the shadow which does link well with your note.

So you did came to Portugal... I though you had gave up since I didn't receive any more emails from you. I would like to have shared a bottle of wine with you... Well, maybe next time.
Nice photo, nothing really special, but that blue arrow works really well in the centre. And the way it's pointing to the dark side shows a lot of your mood after these European vacations. Hope the Portuguese have take good care of you and your family (although in August it's very difficult to find any Portuguese warmth near the ocean...).
