Wandering in Alfama II, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

Second of the session I made last Sunday in Alfama. Once again the strange vision of a lonely man wandering around seeming not to have a clear destination. Just a walk to spear some time and avoid staying at home and get bored.
Even more impressive was the slow way he went down the street and kept going, making me think how the climg would be if he leaves up on one of those steepy streets.

Excellent composition. The lighting is perfect. It gives a feel of the city and the age of the man. You also have a lot of different textures in this photo that give it a special character. Well done

Hello Paulo, one of the most impressive of Alfama I've ever seen. Everything (cobblestones, azulejos, old man, texture of the wall, etc) is very original and smells Alfama. Best regards, Tolga

A beautiful shot Paulo - with those glowing earthy tones. And a great little story to go along with it. So many elements here, and so perfectly arranged. I especially like the banister leading up to the hint of a doorway. My only suggestion would be a very small crop from the top (4 or 5mm) to remove that little bit of roof line in the lh corner.

Imagem fant疽tica, com um sentido humano muito forte. Gosto muito do que vejo aqui.
O meu 佖ico reparo vai para o tratamento de imagem. Acho que a tonalidade � demasiado for軋da e que n縊 tr疽 muito � mensagem que a foto poder� querer transmitir. Pessoalmente, iria para um s駱ia total, pois dessa forma penso que melhora em muito a sensa鈬o de velho/antigo. N縊 sei se me fa輟 entender mas para mim a foto tem umas cores estranhas.

Hello Paulo.
I can almost hear the Fado music, but it must be a few streets away from this scene, which seems such a quiet spot in Lisbon. I like this shot because of its stillness and the unhurried passage of the old man. The colours are mellow and warm, and you have good diagonals to counter the various perpendicular lines. A lovely shot.

crop, crop, crop...Bom dia Paulo, para dizer a verdade estou contigo, embora tamb駑 perceba os cortes sugeridos pelo 'mestre' tal como me aconteceu recentemente no Egipto...ﾉ sempre bom ter um polonaise e um bantonbuju na mesma foto - s� significa que � mesmo boa :) E � de facto - esta s駻ie de velhinhos est� a ser dos melhores trabalhos que tens feito 伃timamente e estou curioso em saber se tens muitos mais.
Isto est� cheio de detalhes del兤iosos por todo o lado que dialogam perfeitamente com o sr. E mais uma vez, embora n縊 t縊 evidente como noutras fotos tuas, tens aquela efeito de luz reflectida a espalhar-se pelas paredes brancas que cria uma atmosfera especial.

gran calidad de imagen y un buen encuadre, como siempre. Me gusta la sencillez de esta escena cotidiana en estas viejas calles, con unos elementos muy atractivos, como la barandilla de la escalera, la vieja puerta y la cer疥ica en la pared.
El hombre deambulando por la calle es un buen toque vital.

Like how the different elements in the compo. play with each other. The tiled mosaic, the diagonal wrought iron stairs which seem to link with the old man, the old wooden door & the signage at top. Excellent warm colours...maybe you can think of cropping the left an inch or so...just saw something what Jerzy had done, had something similar in mind. Good work my friend!

this is an amazing shot paulo... the old man is the killer factor here of course, he looks so cool with his walking stick, like a timeless figure in the compo, but i like the light a lot also... so soft and warm... congratulations my friend, this is a real good job... take care...

Acho que foi um,a imagem muito bem conseguida , o velhote de bengala a descer a rua , gostei muito dos detalhes a placa do nome da rua e o painel de azulejos bem portugu黌 , acho que a velha porta deu um ar bem antigo a foto juntamente com a luz ,parab駭s!!

I hope one day to visit Portugal and Lisbon. Feeling the atmosphere of the streets ... I should do it, my grand-father was Portuguese :)
