The Capitoline Wolf Statue, a photo from Cluj, West

Photographer's Note

The Capitoline Wolf suckling the twins Romulus and Remus is a symbol of Rome, Italy. The statue was favoured by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, who donated copies of the statues to various places around the world. The original statue is in Rome in the Capitoline Museums and a copy on a pillar at the northern corner of Palazzo senatorio

The Capitoline Wolf Statue in Cluj-Napoca, Romania is located on Eroilor Boulevard, in the city centre on the banks of the Someşul Mic river.

Capitoline Wolfs are located in other Romanian cities: Alba Iulia , Blaj, Brad, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Dej, Galați, Iernut, Leșu, Luduș, Maieru, Năsăud, Orăștie, Reghin, Săcele, Satu Mare, Sighișoara, T穩gu Mureș, T穩năveni, Timișoara, Toplița, Turda, Zalău.

Hi Piotr,it's very interesting to know that there are a lot of statues like that in Romania,this is the symbol of my capital and of the Roma football club too. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture of the wolf and off the twins Romulus and Remus. It would have been better if the sun was shining . Sometime the weather is not on the side of the photographer. Have a nice day.

I didn't know there were so many statues of this wolf outside of Italy, but your note explains why. A good photo of the iconic sculpture, taken from a good low viewpoint.

This is mostly related to Roma, Italia, as you written in the well explained note, Piotr.
The cloudy sky aloft made the scene a bit dramatic, still interesting picture.

Czesc Piotr,
tak pamietam ze bylem zdziwiony kiedy pierwszy raz zobaczylem zdjecie tego znanego dziela z Rumunii. Nie wiedzialem ze te wilki sie rozmnozyly az tak bardzo.
Po pierwszym razie zaskoczenie nie jest juz tak duze ale w pewnym sensie jest to nie do konca oczekiwany widok z Rumunii. Chociaz po rumunsku czy angielsku nawiazanie do Rzymian jest widoczne nawet w nazwie kraju Rom穗ia/Romania.
Jesienna juz pogoda ale nie powstrzymala cie przed zrobieniem ciekawego reportazu.

Piotr, the two babies were raised by a mother wolf. That s an amazing story. They are represented drinking the animal's milk. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.

Odrabiam zaległości. Tez byłam zdziwiona widząc te wilczyce kapitolińska w Cluj. Ale juz nazwa Romania o czymś swiadczy. Pamiętam, że w Cluj chciałam zobaczyć pomnik Korvina koło katedry, ale go tam nie było. Ciekawa jestem, czy był tam teraz.

If I am not wrong there is a copy of this statue in some place in brazil too. nice view with the silhouette.legends are ever fascinating.
