The Cluj Curtea de Apel (Court of Appeal) is an imposing and eclectic mix of architectural styles and was constructed between 1898 and 1902 AD and designed by architect Gyula Wagner. It is sometimes called the Palace of Justice. This is the western entrance facing Avram Iancu Square.

Hello Chris,

Nowadays, new buildings are characterised by their geometric shapes and their inventive use of modern materials but in the Victorian times, it was very much more about classicism and elegant, overt decorations.

You would be hard pressed not to notice this building; its size, colour and visual impact are immense.
I'm sure you would have found it difficult to include the whole building in one shot, and it might have been marred by modern traffic so this cropped view of the upper floor shows us some excellent, sharp details.

Hello Chris,
It's already more than 10 years since I spent a few days in Cluj, so I don't remember this building. I really should, because it's certainly one to catch attention with all these interesting details of the fa軋de, and even more the roof. Bright weather created conditions for a perfectly sharp photo with good colours.

A wonderful frontage with different details
Also a lovely top floor.
This everything against a blue sky.
Very sharp and clear with pleasant colours.

This is a magnificent building with its pink and beige facade, nice windows and wonderful garlands on them and ornaments, the roof is fantastic with those geometric designs.
Very well managed both brightness and sharpness.

Beautiful facade here, the light was amazing and resulting colors are so eye catching. The salmon color goes well with the dark blue sky.

the building is beautiful and well shown with the best light here. I liked the central part of the fa軋de and the curious roof with adornments.
