Photographer's Note

S疣dor Petőfi Square is located in the Romanian city of Sighisoara, in the center of the Transylvania region. It is a public space whose main figure is the monument to the most recognized Hungarian poet in history: Petőfi S疣dor. Born in 1823, S疣dor died in the Battle of Sighisoara fighting against the Imperial Russian Army after having written the revolutionary poet 哲emzeti Dal� (哲ational Song� in Hungarian language). Today, the figure of this poet is the national pride not only of Hungary, but also of Romania, Serbia and other neighboring nations.

On one side of the square is the Carpenters' Tower (or 典urnul Cizmarilor� in Romanian language). This is one of the many towers dedicated to trades in the region that were built during the 16th century in Sighisoara and today constitute the main tourist attractions of the city.

From the center of the S疣dor Petőfi square there are three streets that go to the Sighisoara Castle; All of them are perfectly postcard-worthy, with low pastel-colored houses and numerous cafes and small restaurants that attract both locals and tourists who decide to stop here in the middle of a trip through intriguing Transylvania.

La Plaza S疣dor Petőfi se encuentra en la ciudad rumana de Sighisoara, en el centro de la regi de Transilvania. Se trata de un espacio p炻lico cuya figura principal es el monumento al poeta h佖garo m疽 reconocido de la historia: Petőfi S疣dor. Nacido en 1823, S疣dor muri� en la Batalla de Sighisoara luchando en contra del Ej駻cito Imperial Ruso despu駸 de haber escrito el poeta revolucionario 哲emzeti Dal� (鼎anci Nacional� en idioma h佖garo). Hoy en d僘, la figura de este poeta es orgullo nacional no solo de Hungr僘, sino tambi駭 de Ruman僘, Serbia y otras naciones vecinas.

A un costado de la plaza se encuentra la Torre de los Carpinteros (o 典urnul Cizmarilor� en idioma rumano). Esta es una de las numerosas torres dedicadas a oficios de la regi que fueron construidas durante el Siglo XVI en Sighisoara y hoy en d僘 constituyen los principales atractivos tur﨎ticos de la ciudad.

Desde el centro de la plaza S疣dor Petőfi parten tres calles que se dirigen al Castillo de Sighisoara; todas ellas son perfectamente dignas de una postal, con casitas bajas de colores pastel y numerosos caf駸 y peques restaurantes que atraen tanto a locales como a los turistas que deciden parar aqu� en medio de un viaje por la intrigante Transilvania.

Hello Luis,
I remember this place clearly. It is a kind of fairytale view, where not just the tower but also the other buildings are very picturesque. You captured the colours of the buildings well, and the sharpness is fine.
But I must confess that I am not a fan of these artificial skies. The cyan tone doesn't look natural, and in a "real" sky there will be slightly different tones in different areas, not like here where the entire "sky" looks exactly the same. I would rather accept that dull weather left me with a washed-out sky that I could possibly try to darken, otherwise I would just leave it like it was.

Hello Luis,

I would add a little magenta to the sky. 5%-10% should remove some of the green part of the cyan and make it look more blue and natural. That said, this is a good photoshopped image with no missed bits or extras that should still be white. I loved Sighisoara and I like this image a lot. Tfs!

Hello Luis,
A very nice view of this small square, which looks very calm and peaceful. That tower with its large roof stands out well from the backdrop and also the soft colours are pleasant.

Hello Luis,
I remember this tower but it wasn't possible to visit it at the time.
The tower and also the houses on the left are a picture that fits into a fairy tale book.
Wonderful roofs and stairs leading to the first floor.
To get the full picture of the tower building, you also got a part of the car on it. Photographers often have setbacks with cars parked in the wrong place. It happened to me so often.
Excellent clarity and sharpness.

this place will certainly go on my to visit list if I ever make it to Romania - looks very tourist friendly and as you say, post card heaven for photographers :) Nice set up here with the 3 buildings cascading in depth from left to right. so much old time charm here. cheers

Hola Luis,
As strange as it may appear to you I have heard about Sandor Petofi. There is a Sandor Petofi Square in my home town in Poland. I have here a photo of it:

In addition of being a poet he fought together with General Bem who was born in my home town.
Quite an extraordinary architecture here again. This region is so picturesque!
Great reportage as usual.
I really liked Madeira but the weather was terrible most of the time. For example when I drove for the sunrise to Pico do Arieiro it was raining and there was no visibility at all so I came back with nothing. I had several trips like that which was quite frustrating. I will report more in my photos...
