Remember dear fellow Trekkers what this is/was? Does this bring back the same childhood memories as it does to me?As a child I was often tasked to take a battery of four of these to be filled.A large compressor would pump carbon dioxide in the tube - or in earlier models,one exchanged a pressurized cartridge -an empty one for a filled one, and a fill of filtered water.. then the adults would put a bit of wine and fill the glass with this. We children would enjoy fruit syrup - sparkly water on demand! They fell out of favor with the advent of bottled water -sparkling or not- and I was amazed to find a small shop on a forgotten street that has been in operation for decades..and still going strong.
