Photographer's Note

Freska iz manastira Studenica.
Kao i u svakoj instituciji od najni枴jh pa sve do vojske i verske zajednice postoji hijerarhija.
Svako dru嗾vo ima svoje pravo na privartnost, tako da u starim srpskim manastirima nije dozvoljeno praviti fotografije unutar građevine bez blagoslova igumana koji je glave喨na manastira.
Kako je veoma te嗅o doći do igumana postoji mogućnost da se zamoli neki od monaha ni枴h po hijerarhiji ali oni uglavnom ka柆 da mo枡 da se napravi jedna ili dve fotografije ili je negde potpuno zabranjeno napraviti ijednu fotografiju.
Kako u manastire idem da se pomolim Bogu, nemam tu slobodu da radim ne嗾o protiv Bo柬e volje i Njegovih zakona koji se u raznim manastirima zove tipik za svaki manastir ponaosob, tipik je drugačiji.
U crkvama je bla枴 kriterijum pa je lak啼 napraviti fotografije fresaka u crkvama.
Slava Gospodu Bogum nadam se da ćete u枴vati u mojim novim radovima.

Fresco from Studenica Monastery.
As in every institution, from the lowest to the army and religious community there is a hierarchy.
Every society has its right to privelegacy, so in the old Serbian monasteries it is not allowed to make photographs inside the building without the blessing of the iguman who is the head of the monastery.
As it is very difficult to get to the iguman, there is a possibility to ask some of the monks below the hierarchy, but they generally say that one or two photographs can be made, or it is completely prohibited from making a single photo.
As I go to the monasteries to pray to God, I do not have the freedom to do something against the will of God and His laws, which in different monasteries is called the tip for each monastery separately, the typic is different.
In churches, the criterion is milder, so it's easier to make photos of frescoes in churches.

This is indeed a most beautiful fresco that has survived the centuries and is even now under repair. Excellent capture with superb colours and clarity despite the difficult lighting conditions.

It's a pity that the fresco is partly hidden by scaffolding and plastic sheets, but in spite of that we get a good idea of its high artistic quality. The colours are beautifully intense after hundreds of years. Looking at the sides it's obvious that some restoration was needed.

The fresco looks absolutely beautiful!
You have composed it as well as possible, with good clarity.
It is a pity that the scaffold gives the impression that it is guarding against access for such art is definitely there for the pleasure of all!
The scaffolding is not your fault, restoration is essential on all old works of art. Most cathedrals have a continuous programme of restoration.

Dobro vece Sasha, here one can appreciate the monastery interior. The photo note mentions that it is very difficult to take a photo inside the church thence this is a value report. A scaffolding has been placed to reach the fresco. The artwork depicts the Christ crucified with his apostles around him.

I always enjoy these interior photos, glad you posted it.
Good for you to respect the church and its rules, good for you to ask. For me personally, I like the way the mural is now, its not perfect, its aged and needing repair - but I like that look because its real, its imperfect :)

Hi Sasha,
beautiful Orthodox paintings. The walls were so richly decorated. I love it.
Of course it is so pity ti see the damage but at least part of it was preserved.
Framing with the scaffolding adds a suitable touch here.

Beautiful view upwards of the old frescoes in different colours.
The different figures stand out strongly against the darker colours on the background.

Hello Sasha I noticed the scaffolding; the least to say is this icon of devotion surely will have a younger look after restoration! It takes specialised artists to freshen up to the original aspect such an antique tableau. Very fine capture anyway which is a nostalgic souvenir of your Nikon D 5500!
