This fortress is located in Petrovaradin which is a part of Novi Sad in the Serbian province of Vojvodina. The cornerstone of the present-day southern part of the fortress was laid on 18 October 1692 by Charles Eug鈩e de Cro�. In 1991 Petrovaradin Fortress was added to Spatial Cultural-Historical Units of Great Importance list, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia.
