Lipica is the home of the Lipizzan horses and the biggest Lipizzan stud farm in the world.

The Lipizzan horse, one of the oldest cultural horse breeds in Europe and the world, has been developed at the Lipica Stud Farm since its foundation in 1580. Today, the Lipizzan horse is known mainly as a white horse. However, the horses we call white are actually mostly grey. Lipizzan horses are born dark, but they soon turn grey because of a mutated gene.

By nature, the Lipizzan horse is intelligent, proud and dignified, but at the same time, modest and resilient, making it highly suitable for haute-馗ole riding. The Lipizzan horse has a lively temperament and is easy to teach, which makes it suitable for performing classical dressage elements, and also for all types of equestrian activities under saddle and in harness.

The horses and the carriage are mainly in the shade, but you managed the exposure very well. It's a clear and very sharp photo and you were lucky to meet these beautiful horses in a more natural environment than on a visit to the stud farm.

Hello Piotr,

Lipizzan horses are remarkably beautiful as well as all the characteristics that you describe. AS a youngster, I was mad on horses and would have loved to own one of these. Unfortunately, I only saw them on TV or read about them in books!
This is a very well composed photograph.
You show the beauty of the horses and have them moving towards the screen, yet still enough space for them to enter. A lovely, compact shot!
I think the nearest horse has noticed that it is being photographed!!
