Photographer's Note
From a travelogue of crazy traveler.
I had my return flight to Warsaw on Saturday afternoon, from Treviso. On Friday morning I was still in Pula. With a car it would be no problem at all, it is not so far. But I was dependent of local transportation and it was not so trivial as it may seem. So, early morning I caught the first bus to Rovinj. I had there three hours till the next bus - just the right time to stroll slowly in this charming little town. Then I went to Porec to see the Byzantine mosaic in the church - on UNESCO list. The old church and the mosaic in the apside were great.
I wanted to go to Piran. Earlier I noticed strange thing that in Croatia I couldn't get any information about the buses in Slovenia. So I went to the Tourist Information to ask. And to my amazement I heard that there were NO bus connections to Slovenia! Not at all! What to do? The woman told me I could take a taxi - for 60 euro. I did not liked this idea. I asked if there was something from Umag - the town north of Porec, closer to the border. No, it is just the same - she told me (and it was not the truth, the distance was much shorter). I took my map, very small, and estimated that from Umag it would be 20 kilometers and then 15 to Portoroz. I will go on foot...
In short time I had the bus to Umag. I noticed that it was written in small letters that actually it went to Santa Maria in Carso - still some kilometers closer to Slovenia. The driver was a bit surprised that I wanted to go to S. Maria, I was the only passenger, but he told me how I should go. It was closer than I thought - only about 8 kilometers.
Near the border the Croatian police car stopped. 'What are you doing here?" "I am going to Slovenia", I explained. There is no bus so I must walk. "It is not forbidden", they said. "No," I agreed. At the border they found my presence also rather strange. It was 13 km to Portoroz. The nice policewomen told me there were no buses but she could call a taxi for me. It was no sense to walk farther, I would not see Piran. I asked for taxi and for 20 euro went to Portoroz and then by bus to Piran.
I was a bit tired but not too much, so first I went to make some photos. I was on the hill seen in the right corner on the photo, there are walls of the castle . The view was great on all Piran but the position of the sun was not favourable and the photos were no good. Then I went to see the church and from there this photo was made. You can see here the main square - Piazza Tartini. The famous violinist was born in a house on the square, on the left side. We can see him on the monument. The small marina is near the square - it was where I made photo of boats next morning.

Hello Malgorzata!
That's a very attractive urban & architecture photograph!
Sharpness, exposure, high pov, dof, colors, pp, contrasts, horizontal & rectangular format, black & white borders and composition are all outstanding features in this one!
It's certainly a very nice and interesting location!
TFS - congratulations!
My sincere warmest regards,

Hi Malgorzata,
the most amazing thing about this photo is that you still were in the mood and codition to make it! Really strong nerves, after such an exhausting trip. Wonderful light, and a really nice place, worth visiting!

Hi Malgo,
Well, the adventure was well worth it, if only to get a nice photo like this, with all the houses basked in the sun. Great contrast with the red roofs.
Nice opening onto the sea.
The adventure itself was well worth the trip I suppose.
Congratulations.
Marie-Louise.

Czesc Malgo
pozdrawiam
Piotr
