Photographer's Note
'Be prepared to be amazed!' These are the exterior walls of the Great Mosque of the Mezquita in Cordoba.
"The mighty walls hide a forest of delicate arches, pillars and a dazzling mirhab"
(The mirhab is usually a niche in the wall of a mosque, or a room in a mosque that indicates the direction of Mecca.)
No-one can prepare you for what the interior of the Mezquita holds. The 850 columns of granite, jasper and marble supporting the roof give a dazzling effect, making one speechless at its scale.
As with many such places and sites these days, the crowds of people make it difficult to see things as one would wish, but there again, we are a part of the crowd too!
Thank you for your visit.

Hello Jean
Impressive walls. I visited the Mezquita 11 years ago and it was quitte interesting.
Many gypsies were in the area.

Hi Jean
great subject and great photo, the side angle you took this one really shows the girth and size of this beast.
and you made a funny and correct comment about the # of tourists, we complain about there being too many but then again WE are tourists too haha
lovely building, would enjoy seeing more of it
cheers

Hello Jean,
Wonderful view of the street with these beautifully detailed walls of the mosque. The warm colour tones of the stone are very appealing too and I like the composition, especially due to the good placement of the towers on the left hand side.

Hi Jean!
The mosque!! I remember this place so well. Cordoba is a very beautiful city and you captured a very nice part of it. I like it with the people around.

Hi Jean,
Very good idea for the title because even though the exterior walls seem quite impressive here, they are not preparing you for the richness which you will see inside. Here also the weather didn't spoil you. On a day like this interior is a better place to be :)
Very nice reportage,
M
