See in the WS a detail of the church and the stone cross
--------------------------------------------------
The church of San Francisco de Betanzos is a Gothic-style temple built in the second half of the 14th century, thanks to the patronage of Fern疣 P駻ez de Andrade, who rebuilt the previously existing monastery, which dated from the 13th century. It was declared a national monument in 1919 and, later, a Site of Cultural Interest.
The church has a Latin plan with a single nave and a polygonal apse with a ribbed vault, flanked by two rectangular side chapels.
The main portal represents the Adoration of the Kings, and on the outside of the church there are rose windows and Gothic stained glass windows, as well as figured corbels. At the top of the roof of one of the arms of the church, a cross supported by a wild boar.
Inside, in the main chapel, there is a relief that represents God on high surrounded by the four evangelists. In the ribs of the vault, angels playing different instruments, and among them one playing the bagpipes. You can also see various capitals with fantastic animals, but above all, the wide collection of sarcophagi of different members of the Andrade family stands out, up to a total of 16, which constitute the most interesting historical-artistic element of the temple.
The most interesting is that of Fern疣 P駻ez himself, considered a precedent of medieval funerary sculpture. Originally it was placed in the main chapel, next to that of his own wife Doa Sancha, but in 1782 it was moved to the foot of the church, under the choir.

Hello Luis,
It is a quite low and really charming church and the sunlight came from the right angle to highlight the details and colours so well. The orange roofs stand out in particular, just as the tower at left. Well done.

Hello Luis,
The bell tower and the large cross are possibly the finest elements here, and they are well shown in a closer view in the WS. The main photo give us a very good general view of the fine church, where I especially like the very tall windows. You had a good light and the colours turned out beautifully.
Best regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
This is a beautiful photograph!
The architecture is very nice and so pleasantly lit here. The side light allowed some contrasts which introduced the depth to the scene. The colors are so well saturated with the fabulous sky! Very nice composition. I like also the closer view of some details in the workshop.
Excellent quality work,

Hello Luis,
My first reaction was, what is San Fransisco doing in Spain? Then I remembered the city of San Fransisco takes it name from a saint. It is an impressive church.
