Reflections II, a photo from Uppland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

In the note to my previous post mentioned that It is not often that the water of the Fyris River in central Uppsala is more of less completely calm and almost like a mirror, but it could happen particularly in autumn. And it is quite obvious that there is more than one photo opportunity This is the reflection of V舖tga Nation (the red building and Kaniken (the brown building) in the street V舖tra ﾅgatan. Like with my previous post I have flipped and rotated it 180 degrees for better comparison.

A nation is a society for students at the University of Uppsala. V舖tga Nation is a nation for students from the province V舖tergland in the south western part of Sweden. There are 14 Student Nations in Uppsala. The student nations are almost as old as the University itself. V舖tga Nation that was founded in 1639 has 1 200 members. It is one of the smaller nations at Uppsala. The Nation has extensive cultural activities including three choirs, a theatre club and an orchestra.

Kaniken which was built in 1902. Between 1902 and 1973 Kaniken was a printing house run by Almqvist & Wiksell. Today it houses offices, dentists and a cinema. Further down the street there is another student nation, Norrland痴 Nation.

Hello Ulf,
A well composed picture of the reflected nations nicely framed with the reflected leaves.
It's wonderful to find these warm red, brown and yellow tones in the Fyris water.
I've seen these buildings last summer but there were no reflections in the river at that moment. Later on the day I saw splendid reflections in the Fyris, further away along the river.

This is an amazing picture. I can't remember any water surface that is calm enough in order to get these results.

simple but powerful composition by the reflection of the building which is covered by the vegetation...good noticed...
nice chosen POV with good light management...superb clarity with nice color contrast & sharpness...

very nice the view as the presentation of the reflected opposite buildings on the surface of the water.I like the captured colours, the light management as the contrast of the colours.

Hej Ulf,
This "aquarelle" technique is quite successful here, the water being so calm and a perfect mirror for these beautiful old buildings. The reflection works as a filter and enhances all colours. A very interesting note too!

Hello Ulf,

Not much wind that day, and river Fyris seems to flow slowly through Uppsala..!
Almost perfect details, just a tiny ripple, probably the best mirror I have ever seen in a river...
And the colours are enhanced, just like some kind of polarizing effect!

I like this set of Reflections you have been posting.
and great idea to flip it upside down, making it easiery for the viewer.
the water is amazingly calm, just a tiny bit of wiggling.
the lighting and colors are excellent too, not much of anything i would change here :)
