Reflections III, a photo from Uppland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

This is a third photo of reflections on the water of the Fyris River in central Uppsala on an exceptionally calm day. For those who live in Uppsala it is well-known that it is almost always a bit windy in Uppsala. For better comparison with the photo below I have flipped and rotated it 180 degrees.

The building is Grand Hotell Hnan. The hotel has to day 37 rooms. In the early 1900's, an engineer from Uppsala, Hjalmar Kallenberg, went to Italy to study how hotels were run there. Once back in Uppsala , he acquired a piece of land on the eastern shore of Fyris蚣 and started to build a hotel of European standards. The architect who designed the hotel was Ture Stenberg.

It the winter of 1907 Grand Hotell Hnan opened. In those days it was Uppsala's largest and most exclusive hotel with 29 rooms.

The style is neo-baroque with features of Art Nouveau. The facades are plastered in a light color and has a gently curving gable, richly decorated with ornaments and with wrought iron balconies.

Hej Ulf,
Another fine shot from your series of reflections. The effect of the very slight ripples on this quiet day is very attractive, looking like the whim of a painter. Strangely enough there seems to be a lot of leaves and maybe rubbish flying in the air :-)
Very well seen and very good colours.

Hi Ulf.
Magnificent! We have not only stepped into the past, but everything looks like is being blown away by the Uppsala wind, the pieces of paper swirling in the sky! But it's a calm day! Trick of the eye. Beautiful luminosity, great colour, a truly wonderful reflection photo. The hotel is obviously still grand, and its elegance can be seen even in the reflection. Good note of explanation and information.

Sembra quasi una pittura dove le carte sull'acqua qui appaiono come se fossero carte alzate dal vento.

Fantastic reflection Ulf!
so clear and so vivid, and above all it makes a very fine composition. I'm stricken by the deep blue sky (I love polarized skies) which contrasts with the white of the building and the golden hue of the tree. A real impressionist painting and a photo full of light. Good idea to reverse the image so to give the illusion of seeing directly the scene.
An excellent and extraordinary capture.

Very good reflection which remaind me to impressionistic old painting. The leaves little destract background and look like small holes on the canvas. An excellent catch with great colors, light and sharpness.
