Photographer's Note

This is basically the same idea that I had for my last photo: Men in bright clothes with one of Stockholm's most iconic buildings in the background.

This time you see the 13th century former royal burial church, Riddarholmskyrkan, located on a small island that forms a separate part of the Old Town, Gamla stan.

And in the foreground two men in a boat trying to catch some fish. The white ship is a former private yacht that has been permanently moored here as a hotel and restaurant for almost 40 years.

This photo was taken about 5 minutes after the one I posted a few days ago. I had walked a couple of hundred meters along the northern quay of Sermalm island, towards the city centre, when I saw these men and thought: "Here I go again".

The juxtaposing of the small runabout boat in the fg contrasts well with the much larger boat moored in the bg. The Knights Island Church (Riddarholmskyrkan) adds place and context. Good colour and sharpness and I like that the boats are facing in opposite diametrically opposed directions. Tfs!

Hello Gert, many thanks for your latest critique on my storks pic.s'.
This picture superbly taken from the POV chosen, included the iconic tower, buildings and the old yacht anchored.
The two men on the boat were eyes catching - but without the surrounding backdrop it would be a "nothing special" category. Stunning blue water as well.

Fun to see those men fishing from a boat in the center of the city. This church tower looks great too. And I like the forms of that classic yacht.

Hello Gert,

Two subjects are real eye catcher, one the nice long church tower.
Two, the two fishermen in foreground with this type boat try fishing.
Of course the colours are very pleasant to look at.
The houses are very sober as frontage but maybe functional.
Composition and presentation are excellent taken.

Hello Gert,
I find the tower of Riddarholmskyrkan very striking.
Of this church I also took some pictures. But the result was each time too insufficient to show here.
It was a beautiful clear day when you took the photo. Still I have the feeling when I see the picture that it was quite cold. This not only because of the clothing of the men. Also the colour of the water makes me think it was rather cold. Maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway, a nice colourful shot. Well composed. Good depth.

Hello Gert,

The deep blue water, prefacing the colour-coordinating buildings and church, would have made a fine photograph and good composition, on their own, but with the boats and the brightly coloured figures, the photograph goes up a notch in visual interest.and sense of depth.

Hello Gert, I was always fascinated by the Riddarholms Kyrkan. The lace-like tower looks especially beautiful with the blue sky in the background. You were lucky with the perfect weather. I have (as often) similar photos but with the overcast sky, they are much less beautiful. The red and yellow of the guys contrast nicely with the water. This big white boat is always there. But the new element is this big pole and its shadow. Also, I have many cranes in my pictures, here I see only one on the left side.

Hello Gert, you couldn't miss the opportunity to capture the two men in their brightly coloured attire. Both busy with their fishing to notice a photographer walking by!

Splendid composition with the work of these two fishermen in the foreground, who provide two touches of color, a magnificent background the large yacht moored in the background and, of course, the tower of the funerary church, with that draft that finishes off the brick tower.

Hi Gert,
That is an almost a postcard style picture. The fishermen add of course so much light and literally some color to the scene.
Nice place for a walk. It seems you had several interesting photo opportunities on the same walk.
The tower certainly adds a characteristic touch and I think I would be able to recognize it without ever being to Stockholm.
Well asymmetrically positioned in the frame.

Great to be back posting a photo, its been almost 4 months!
Hope all is well with you, I've missed many of your latest photos, so I'll have to check back. I chose this photo because of the White Yacht/Hotel. That really caught my attention and I wanted to ask questions. I wonder what it would be like to spend a night or two there, the location looks pretty good, close to Gamla Stan, but what would the accomodations be like? very curious, I would 100% put serious thought into staying there, simply because its so unique and different. and what kind of fish can be caught here? Good to 'see' you, hope to hear from you

Maybe you missed the news that 16 October is a "wear bright clothes for charity" day?? :-) It reminds me of the various "dress for charity" days we have: wear pink, wear yellow, wear jeans... just name it.
Seriously though, I like the combination of red yellow and blue. And another iconic Stockholm tower.
