Stockholm Marathon, a photo from Sodermanland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

These two men were among the 15000 participants (including 4500 women) in the Stockholm Marathon last Saturday. I was going for one of my regular walks on Sermalm island when I suddenly found myself in one of the streets along the track of 42 195 meters.

I didn't plan to watch the competition, and I didn't even know when or where the runners would be on Sermalm island. As it happened, I first met them by coincidence in the nearest major street after I had left home. I saw the three Africans leading the race, already far ahead of the others after 25 km. But it was a crowded area, and I couldn't find a good angle for photos, so I soon left for other parts of the island.

About half an hour later I once again met the runners as they were approaching 30 km in another part of the island. Photo conditions were better here, so I stopped for a while to have a look at the more average competitors. The best runners had of course passed this area long ago.

I actually had another good reason to stop at this place for a while. There was something much more interesting to me than these runners, which I will show you next time.

In case you wonder, the Norwegian carrying number 2079 finished the race 5 minutes and 16 seconds ahead of number 541, from Sweden.

Captured well these two runners from a very close range, Gert, superbly show their faces expression, still have a distance to cover in the marathon.

nice moments of the event well registered with a great sense of movement.my micro-region has an important marathon and usually are the africans from Uganda and Ethiopia the winners. there is a small city around 200 km far from my town where these africans use to stay for training.

hello Gert, Good photo of these two successful runner, and you checked the results. We see the numbers so it is not difficult.
Haha, this picture reminds me our former TE friend with many names that I do not remember at the moment. He run in marathon near my house and I even showed him in TE. I identified his real name after the run.
Not long time ago Donald Tusk run marathon. He said he would like to see Kaczyński or Morawiecki running marathon. Haha, I would love to see it too.

A similar thing happened to me in Trondheim Norway. A large group of runners suddenly appeared from nowhere and it continued on for a couple of hours. A good decision to wait for more favourable conditions before shooting. Tfs!

Hello Gert, three shots that illustrate the event very nicely.
I think that our son ran the Stockholm marathon a few years ago.
This shot is particularly good as runner 2079 has both feet off the ground.
Looking at the w/s picture with the lady on the left, I am wondering how much further the runners had to go as some of them look to be struggling.

sensational portrait of these two runners in full development of the competition, young, well muscled, they are used to training, equally magnificent the other two photos of the WS that give us the atmosphere of the street in the development of the race.
A magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good management of lighting and sharpness, although you should have softened the contrast a bit.
