Photographer's Note
We have seen recently some photos from Lviv and Kyiv, so here is another wonderful Ukrainian town - Odessa.
I have seen on the Internet, that they prepare Odessa for the Russian attack. Here is the view of the centre of Odessa, with the Richelieu Monument. Richelieu sees the famous Potemkin Stairs. I hope that the Russian will not go on these stairs like in the Eisenstein movie. At the moment, near the most important monuments, there are bags with sand to protect them.
There are more and more refugees in Poland, also in Warsaw. And the war is more and more cruel and senseless. They use weapons that are forbidden.
The Potemkin Stairs are a giant stairway in Odessa, They are considered a formal entrance into the city from the direction of the sea and are the best-known symbol of the town. The staircase extends for 142 meters, but it gives the illusion of greater length. At the top of the stairs is the Duke de Richelieu Monument, depicting Odessa's town governor. The Roman-toga figure was designed by the Russian sculptor, Ivan Petrovich Martos (17541835). The statue was cast in bronze by Yefimov and unveiled in 1826. It is the first monument erected in the city. (From Wikipedia)

Ciao Malgo, the scene of the movie Potiomkin with the wheelchair being pushed down the stairs is a cult, one of the most famous in the history of cinema and I remember it very well. You can perfectly see the staircase in the great perspective of the WS, the main view is also very interesting. Odessa hasn't been touched yet but it sure will be due to its strategic position on the sea ... unless a miracle happens. Today in Italy a bus carrying Ukrainian refugees overturned and one person died. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo,
Did you increase the colours to make the view more Ukrainian? ;-) In any case it was a perfect choice of blue and yellow.
Kiev and Odessa (or Kyiv, Odesa in Ukrainian) were both "love at first sight" for me. I immediately felt comfortable in both cities, loved the many beautiful buildings and streets, the friendly atmosphere, good food. The thought of them both being shot to pieces and thousands of people killed because of one little man's insanity breaks my heart.
Coming to this place and walking down the legendary steps to the sea was a wonderful experience. It was hard to believe I was actually there.
Kind regards,
Gert
You were slow with posting the WS. The quality is OK, and it's really a much better photo, but of course it's not blue and yellow. But I like the shape, the patterns of the steps and of course the people.

Czesc Malgosiu
Piekne swiatlo i kolory, przede wszystkim ukrainskiej flagi.

Hi Malgo
Well I got close to Odessa in Transnistria and again at the mouth of the Danube in Romania, but I have not been there. The national colours of blue and gold are evident here. Tfs!

Hi Malgo,
The statue is eye-catching. The point of view is showing the details od the statue of Richeliwu and of the buildings. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
It is such a wonderful photo of this town with its grand and stately building and the statue in front of them. The colours are very well saturated and vivid in this bright sunlight.

Hi Malgo.
A nice perspective of this colorful street with pretty buildings in pastel colors, it is calm and pleasant on a summer afternoon, quite the opposite of the current moment.
That great staircase is very curious, when you reach the top you would look for a bench to catch your breath.
Great color that brings out the details of the image, the sharpness is excellent and the lighting is splendid.
Very good work. I like it a lot.
You have a good day. Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Malgo,
It is almost like waiting with bated breath to see what atrocities will be inflicted on the Ukrainian people and their cities next!
I hope such fine historic features will not be lost forever!
The statue is very well positioned, in your photograph, whist the converging lines of the street guide us effectively into the distance.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
Beautiful view from Odessa. I hope the Russians will not be able to enter this place. There is a local pastor who has a channel on YouTube and he is friends with a pastor from Odessa. He reads emails he gets from them. Apparently, the Russian navy made an attempt for a landing on the beaches of Odessa, but was not successful - but that was yesterday.
Regards,
MT

Hi Malgorzata
I love how the catchy statue holds the focus hence binding the elements handsomely. Lovely write-up, beautiful light, colours & other points of interest under the blue sky. Well done
Best regards

Hello Malgo,
I recognized the place of your main picture immediately.
Wonderful blue-yellow combination!
The photo in the WS is an excellent bookmark.
Indeed every day the war has become more and more cruel.
I have the impression that the Russians no longer want to hide the fact that the Ukrainian population is being murdered. Only a military victory seems to count for them.
What if they conquered the entire country? They don't seem to think that no Ukrainian will ever want to have anything good to do with Russia again. Never has a head of state and his army made themselves so hated.
Best regards, Paul
