Photographer's Note

One of the first photos I took with my polarising filter. This is the view from my desk out of the window toward the Wills Memorial Building (which contains the university's law department - you'd think they are very lucky, but I've been in some of the tutor's upper rooms in the winter and it's freezing!), set against a sky made much more stunning by removing the glare with my new filter :) Didn't even do much PP to get this - a little curves, unsharpen and vignette.

Interestingly, the Wills building is not nearly as old as it looks. It was opened by opened by King George V and Queen Mary in 1925, having been designed by Sir George Oatley who was told to "build to last". Thank you, Wikipedia.

Sadly, the building has been wreathed in scaffolding and plastic for over a year to clean it up, but here it is in all its glory (at least the top bit in this picture).
