Photographer's Note
St.Enodoc stands among the sand dunes above Daymer Bay.Behind stands Brea Hill and nowadays the church is surrounded by the fairways of St.Enodoc golf course.
Why this little chapel is here is apparently a mystery. Some of the architecture can be traced back to the 12th century.
The chapel was renovated in 1864.An account of the restoration written in 1919-21 recently came to light,
''the sands had blown higher than the eastern gable, the wet came in freely, the pews were mouldy green and worm eaten and bats flew about, living in the belfry.''
Whoever restored the chapel did a wonderful job;it is visited by countless numbers of people these days.Services are held here each week.
The chapel is delightful inside, if only the walls could speak....and tell us more.
Notice the rather bent spire?
Thanks for looking.

Hello, Jean.
I think this must be your first posting this year? And a fine one at that! Beautifully crisp and sharp and clear and not over-sharpened at all. Perfect exposure with no "blown out" areas and full details in the deepest shadows. Very natural colours too. What more could one ask?
Perhaps I should have liked to see a little more of the church itself but I reckon that probably wasn't possible. However, I shall have to content myself by marvelling at that wonderful and slightly crooked spire - I'm sure it could tell some stories too. It almost looks as though it is peering out to sea just like you and your camera!
Kind Regards and Best Wishes for 2008,
John.

Hello Jean,
I haven't corresponded with you for awhile. I have been involved with family issues for several months and I finally have time to participate on TE again. I am slowly trying to catch up for lost time. My wife keeps telling me how beautiful Cornwall is and your photo is proof of it. Your composition is perfect the way it is and your capture of the soft lighting and beautiful puffy clouds is marvelous. I love the illusion of depth with all of the myriad layers that you included. A gorgeous photograph! My wife is very impressed also!

Hello Jean,
Congratulations for your 100th post, the one that followed this, but, with better light, I do prefer this wonderful image of St. Enodoc. The Ancient roots of the church, and its 19th century restoration means that it has witnessed so much history. Your vantage point is excellent to show the landscape. The solid stone spire is slightly crooked, but nowhere as much as the famous bent spire in Hereford. It was wise to include the shrubbery in the foreground, giving the image exceptional depth of field.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Jean.
Lovely little church with its strangely asymmetrical spire. Excellently neutral colours and a really peaceful feel to this idyllic scene.
Always wanted a reason to visit the golf course you mention; I think I just found one...
Great work. Regards, Paul.
