Royal Pavilion
Another photo from Brighton, which is also home to the Royal Pavilion, a former royal residence, built for George, Prince of Wales (the later King George IV) in Indo-Saracenic style. Architect John Nash designed its current form with all those many domes and minarets, in the early 19th century. Some decades later Queen Victoria was less enthusiastic about the palace and sold it to the city of Brighton. In the First World War, the Pavilion was used as a military hospital for wounded and sick soldiers from the Indian Army. After WW2, the city of Brighton has been working on restoring the Pavilion to its original state at George IV's time and it is open to visitors.

Hello Lars,
This is a more familiar view from Brighton.
It has had a checkered history but is looking in fine repair now.
You had a particularly soft light when you took this shot which is beautiful for revealing the details without very harsh contrasts.
It's a lovely clear shot of this most unEnglish building, with a fine sense of perspective.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Ik moet toch altijd even wennen aan de architectuur van dit monstrum. Het staat natuurlijk in het verkeerde land, maar daardoor wordt het wel weer een curieus gebouw.
De foto heeft een mooi aarzelend licht. Goed gedaan.

despite strong backlight, managed a beautiful picture of the famous pavilion in Brighton, Lars, and it was a bright day...matched the name of the place.
Distinct contrast from green FG to the view across the concrete fence to the white edifice. Outlines shown in superior sharpness.
Bravo and a nice Sunday,
Ike

I would like to visit this place, but I am obligated to left it a part, not so much time for everything GB has to offer. anyway I saw many of the original palaces in india. but recreations has a curious cultural aspect, fantasy swap the things according with the other ideas. nice this view of the fa軋de.

Hello Lars,
In case you haven't been to India there is no need to go there after you have seen the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. This is from the strange days when India was a kind of British province. In Bombay there are streets looking just like in London. Despite the slight absurdity of this building it is stunningly picturesque and you have taken this photo with a perfectly managed light.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Lars,
At one time we lived quite close to Brighton and visited from time to time, but we never went in the Pavilion. Often the case when attractions like this are on the doorstep. An excellent capture that shows the unique architecture to superb effect. I like the framing offered by the fence which makes a great contrast with the sinuous curves of the Pavilion. Very good management of the lighting ensures colours and details are well rendered.

Dag Lars My first impression was 'lace everywhere'! First on the building itself, above in the sky and finally on the fence. Ant I inform you, thanks to your usual hi-rez, of two broken panes in the oval windows of the larger dome. No kidding! Groeten

Hi, Lars.
Splendid composition, with this great POV, of this beautiful pavilion in a totally oriental style, ideal all that variety of cupulas and minarets. It is like the palace of the Thousand and One Nights.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Enjoy Sunday.
Very best regards.

Hallo Lars,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Lars,
This was first on my list of things to see in Brighton with a limited time of 1 hour. Did you know there is also a Brighton Beach in Brisbane, Melbourne and Gallipoli? Good sharpness and nice repetition of the Indian Islamic style turrets and cupolas. Tfs!

Hi Lars,
The fence is helping to frame the pavillion. The point of view is showing the details of the Royal pavillion. The light has a good effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Lars,
the light was not favourable from this angle but nevertheless the final effect is stunning. I like very much the point of view across the fence in the park.
I know this place from photos but never been there yet. This picture really encourages me to go there someday.
The architecture is unique of course, the presentation very original,
very well done,
