Absorb the Countryside, a photo from Lancashire, England

Good Morning Everyone,

Has there ever been a scene that you have photographed and you wished to be part of what you were capturing!

On a warm spring day, the thought of travelling slowly and calmly through the Lancashire countryside on a barge, was very appealing!

Everyone always seems so happy when they are on these barges. I think that is why pedestrians are perfectly happy to assist them to open and close locks (the means of raising or lowering the levels in the canal) so they can travel up or down the canal.

I think the speed, in a barge, is about 4 miles an hour. Now, what could be calmer than that, with plenty of time to observe the birds, the animals and generally enjoy the countryside.

Hello Bev,
The barge looks fine and seems to be kept in a good condition. You found it in a generally nice area where a bridge crosses the curving canal and a few trees are well placed. The calm weather created perfect reflections and the helmsman's yellow coat provides a fine speck of bright colour.

Hi Bev,

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the bridge and of the barge. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

I presume it is a very calm way to know the island, crossing its veins. if a rural have many surprises at each curve, I presume these canals have even more surprises to discover. excellent image.

Such a lovely and peaceful photo of the calm water and the long and narrow barge. I saw several of those barges in Stratford as well. The sunlight was nice and soft and the reflections are wonderful, too.

Hi Bev,
Charming scene. There is plenty of color in spite of no direct sunlight. The speed of the barge makes a difference because it is so slow that the reflection in the water is almost undisturbed, although we can see some subtle waves behind.
Nice angle and the reflection makes a big difference as well.
The yellow jacket of the barge-man adds another color.

Looking at your nicely composed photograph I wish I could spend one week on the deck of such a barge. Recently I'm working hard and I would really like to enjoy the relaxation offered by these boats.

This is a lovely scene, with lots of nice details. I like how the man's yellow jacket matches the yellow square beneath him, and the reflections in the canal are great, too. This barge is a shade of green that I like, and I also like the name. :-) It's a wonderful spring scene. Take care!

You got to have the right mindset already when you enter the barge, because hurrying is just impossible. Lovely canal view with good framing and the main subject perfectly placed.

Well, if I agree with you, traveling slowly on a barge watching the landscape go by and capturing photos of what catches your attention on the banks of the canal should be ideal, here we admire the pleasant and green landscape with the calm waters of the canal that capture wonderfully the reflections of the canal and the barge.
Excellent POV, with very good lighting, color and sharpness to enjoy the details.
