Photographer's Note
London is famous for its often unpleasant weather, but during my stay in the city just prior to and after the Olympic Games 2012 the weather was superb. This view is taken from the top of London's famous St. Paul's Cathedral looking east towards the City and Canary Wharf. Standing on top of the great domed roof and looking out from the golden gallery you can see most of the great city sights. The building in the foreground is the 'One New Change' shopping complex which features some interesting rooftop spaces. In the background you can see the famous 30 St. Marys Axe (The Gherkin) and Lloyds of London. Also from this vantage but in other directions you could see the Houses of Parliament, Olympic Stadium, River Thames and the London Eye. I'll post more photos from up the top of St. Pauls later.

Hello Matthew - This is a wonderful shot taken from a perfect vantage point. The FG building is interesting; who would think a roof would be so attractive and I can see people out enjoying the fleeting English summer. Further into the cityscape we see the iconic Gherkin, the whole shot is packed with detail and interest. Wonderful! Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Matthew.
This shows London as a dynamic and modern city, which I really think London is. The building in front especially looks very cool and modern and suits your picture very nice from this angle. TFS

Hi Matthew,
I donエt believe I have been to the top of St. Paul since 1988, the London skyline has definitely changed since then. A very interesting view with many details to explore!
Kind regards

Hi Matt
Like your experience, London has been nothing but blue skies whenever I've visited (as opposed to when I lived there). The blue skies really do change the city and the atmosphere completely. This is a wonderful POV. The depth of field and sharpness are so important in a composition like this, and here they are the things that stand out so impressively. The colours and domination of the modern architecture is really wonderful and so unlike what we picture London to be.
Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful day
Lisa
