Photographer's Note
The QE2 is celebrating her 40th birthday with a tour of the British Isles. There was a special ceremony in Liverpool as the city was the home of Cunard for over 150 years, the city celebrates its 800th birthday this year, and the QE2 formally opened the new Liverpool cruise liner terminal.
Given the history of the moment I tried an antique greyscale look in Adobe Lightroom. A few tweeks and a slight crop. Unfortunatly it wasn't possible to get very close, and if you tried there were crowds of people. Even at 6"5' I couldn't get a great view.

Hi David!
Well, I am quite impressed first because of the boat, and then because of the old appearance you have achieved to your image using this sepia tone. Excellent, it seemed an old image, and not this 40th celebrations!
Well seen David!
Cheers, and thank you for your words about my last image!
Take care!
Miguel

Hi David
First of all, i must say the choice of color is bang on. Perfectly suited for the occasion and definitely must bring about nostalgic feelings for people who have been on it. The composition is nice and works well.
Cheers

I like the bw variation here David suitable for the old lady of 40 (in that business)..
Also the complete lack of people around is good for the final result as presented here.

Hi David
Good choice with the sepia. Like you said, a bit closer to the water would have been good, but still ok.
Harry
PS, I actually worked on QE2, 11 or 12 years ago when it was docked in Hamburg. Same problem, very crowded, although at that time it was by workers:)

Hello David,
Nice shot,You got a lot closer than I could when she was in Greenock, 20.09.2007
I know each to his/her own, I prefer the colour as she is only 40 years old.
You done well in the management, nice sky and seagulls give it a very nautical feel to your photo.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Rob.

First of all are you 6" 5' or 6' 5" David? Ha, ha. Like the way you have used a sepia type conversion for the QE2. I bet you could have got an even better shot closer in but as you say you couldn't get any closer.
And finally, Torres looks class. We should have tried to get him but I suppose the Spanish link means he was destined for Anfield. You might even win the league if Benitez stops faffing about.

Hi David,
I've never seen the QE2 and I have to say I'm impressed!! Your POV works well even if you couldn't go closer to it. The pp and the choice of sepia is spot on with the subject as it seems to look at a old picture. There's a great mood on this picture David, you've done an excellent job!

David,
Wonderful tones in this sepia.
With the subject, it combines to produce a timeless picture, which tells a story, I like that.

JB.

Hi David,
very well made old. As nobody is to see, one could think more of a ship turning into a wreck than a one still in use. I like the diagonal view, but a bit more sharpness at the bow area would be more my thing.

Hi David!
With your excellent b&w choice here, you have made this ship look like the Titanic, before his first and last trip. I hope everything is good for QE 2 and its passengers, but that's the feeling I get from this beautiful picture. Congratulations!

Hi David,
For a while I was a bit confused here until I realized this is the QE2 and not the QM2 ! Nice comprehensive view and the vintage PP is a plus to me here, I like it.
Have a nice day,
