Photographer's Note
The Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge spanning the River Tees as served the communities on both sides of the river since 1911 and allowed tall ships access to the upper Tees. You can no longer walk over the bridge but as a child I can remember walking over it at a cost of just 2 old pennies to visit my friend who lived in Port Clarance.

Looks like coupling of lifting cranes. Sorry :). Great shot, like it.

You managed to get great light reflected on the river, despite the grey sky. I wonder how often the transporter runs. There are a few shots of it on here, but I have yet to see it with the cradle across the river. There's a similar bridge in Germany that "Buin" has posted recently you might be interested in.

I like how you filled the frame with this famous structure Irene, and you also timed it well to capture the boat passing underneath.
Unfortunately the noticeable tilt to the left bothers me somewhat. It would be quite a simple matter to adjust this using the rotate function in photoshop.
Cheers,
Ben

Good Industrial shot, Irene. I like the fact that you are not afraid to shoot overcast grey days. I like the mood - liked it so much once in my past that I painted a scene many years ago titled: Grey Day at the Factory.
Well balanced, natural colors and nicely framed.
Cheers

i love bridges and you got this one in the right positon showing some action in the design and mechanism..i think it must be hydraulically raised or by back weights...the cross wire bracings at the end are to stop side sway..
good postion and lighting
ps..put the details for where the shot was taken rather than where you live...then you will get map references...assuming you take some in other countries..
cheers

Nice pic, Irene, showing a kind of bridge I've never experienced! Great perspective and good colours, despite the bad weather. Well done! TFS! Regards! Miguel.

Hi Irene
Seen a few shots of this transporter bridge on TE. Nothing like this in London, but it looks huge and forbidding. I agree with Kath that the reflection of the water is just right and overcomes the look of the grey sky. This is a good documentary piece. Nice work.

Hi Irene, Great memories this brings....my wife was born on the north side of the bridge and used to cross it all the time to visit her grandparents on the south side. I had the pleasure of using it once during a visit to Yorkshire. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Irene
Interesting as it looks like an unfinished bridge.

Hi Irene, just spotted this in your gallery. This is a nice capture of the famous (and familiar, to me, as I work quite near it) bridge, all the better for waiting for a boat to come through too.
cheers, Leon.

Hi Irene, This is a wonderful urban scene, I use to work in a ship yard & know just how big thses crains are, I love the way you have captured the two together as if it were a walk way, the detail in the structures is excellent & the blue gose nicely with the gray clouds behind, very well composed with the ship to the left of shot & very good light, TFS & you take care, kind regards Wilson.

Hi, Irene.
This is great - so crisp and sharp and clear. And a nice note too - it's nice to meet someone who can still remember real money. You could, of course, have stayed at home and spent the 2d. on a Mars Bar or two Milky Ways! Or two sherbet fountains!
Seriously, a nice "record" shot which is made all the better by the excellent exposure and the nice reflections.
Best Wishes,
John.
