City of Gold, a photo from Tyne and Wear, England

Photographer's Note

Ironically, this photo was taken along a street named Grey Street which leads further to the Grey痴 Monument, seen at the left edge of the photo. When I was there yesterday, it was far from being grey though, instead it was glowing in the warm sunshine like gold. The photo presents the Theatre Royal at 100 Grey St. in Newcastle upon Tyne. I bet somebody will tell me here that I corrected perspective too much. Wrong again. I have used a wide angle zoom lens, which always when used vertically results in distortions, so I suppose it may be sort of distorted but it is not a result of the post-processing but rather it is a lens distortion.

Hello Mariusz,
A very quiet street, but the warm sunlight was amazing and makes a great contrast with the dark street in shades and the clouds at right. Good composition and viewpoint.

Grey it is not, Mariusz, the golden afternoon light gave extra grandeur to the magnificent facades and the column upon the far side.

I can remember of the statue, but not of the theater. a nice view with the stormy sky and the city illuminated by the sunlight. very beautiful.

Since you usually wait for good weather to go out, the name of Grey Street is of course no longer appropriate on the days of your visit.
The photo has a very attractive colour contrast between the buildings and the sky.
Beautiful cityscape, presented with excellent depth, sharpness and clarity.

I do not find any distortion in this photo, but it is a beautiful view of the theater and other buildings, the very straight column we see at the end, with a dome too, the Theater building is very beautiful with that classicist portico.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Excellent clarity, sharpness, and perspective.
