Photographer's Note
This is my post nr 100 on TrekEarth!!!
It couldn`t be anything else than my favorite city and location to celebrate this case - Edinburgh, Scotland. I already shared one shot from this dramatic evening before. Visiting Calton Hill is like never ending story. You go there as often as you can to catch places that you well know, but you never guess scottish weather...
That day you could expect stunning sunset at 3 pm already, but when it started getting dark the meteorological conditions got really mad, so the sunset was mostly hidden. The wind was stronger than normally and really freezing. Stormy clouds came so fast foreshadowing the hurricane, uncommon one even in Scotland.
Fortunatelly the visibility became perfect just for a couple of minutes before the full dusk and mist. Then I had a several attempts to get a perfect frame, sharpness and exposure as the wind is not your ally when you set your camera on 20 seconds, even if you use such a heavy stuff.
It was probably the last moment for outdoor photography in 2006. The hurricane that came just a few hours later changed many people's plans for New Year`s Eve, inlcuding myself. The "Street Party" was over before it ever began : ]
On this picture you can see Edinburgh`s Old Town including fantastic castle on the right. As it still was Christmas time, there were many carousels on the bottom adding colourful lights to my picture. The view is really nice so if you ever happen to visit Edinburgh, climb the Calton Hill located on the East End of the Princes Street. That`s one of the most popular places for evening walks and the easiest way to see the panorama of Edinburgh. It`s a really good point for shooting Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle.
Hope U like it!

Congratulation on your 100th post. Few minutes ago I posted my 100th photo as well.
Very good timing for the photo - artificial light already dominate, but sky is not yet dark and very colorful. Well controlled exposure - even brightly lit buildings are not over exposed.
Sharpness is perfect for 20 seconds exposure, although I'm not sure if you really needed F/16 for this photo. I think with F/9 or F/10 everything would be perfectly in focus and exposure would by much shorter.

Perfect exposure for this shot. The buildings are bright but you can still make out the details. The sky looks fantastic as well and the motion blur of the ferris wheel adds a nice touch.
