The Quiraing, a photo from Highland, Scotland

Photographer's Note

This was taken back in November in the Quiraing, which is located on the north side of the Isle of Skye. I got there early for sunrise but high winds made life difficult for me and my since upgraded tripod. I could only take photos when I was somewhat protected by the winds otherwise the tripod shakes were endless. I will hopefully make a return trip to Scotland and Skye sometime in late October. This time I will know the areas a bit more and would like to venture into some less known places. However one more visit to the Quiraing is a must.

Great color and composition. Almost surreal looking with all the different shades of green in the hills and the sun and stray "dark cloud". Even the bit of road on the right works, or at least doesn't detract from the photo.

Beautiful classic painting colours of this area of the world - a great composition and as John said it might be seen as surreal in some ways - but i think your story of the wind brings back reality and one can imagine the weather.

This is a very nice photo with an excellent sunrise. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. Your composition is nice including the mountains and the lowlands in the shot, the lit clouds are a great addition.

You're telling me, this is a must-visit I think. What a fabolous shot you have here. The colours beautiful, the suns rays gorgeous. The greens are fantastic. I really can't critique this photo as I like everything about it (including the road on the right side).

It's a very fresh scenery shot. Every color in the scene seems to be at their best quality. Green landscape, yellow sun, orange clouds and blue What a wonderful view.

Truly stunning vista. The colors and sharpness throughout are really, really good. I'm not sure about the small section of road but it is only a tiny distraction to an absolutely inspiring capture. The clouds around the sunrise are absolutely perfectly exposed.

It seems that other than the wind you'd have been hard pressed to get more perfect conditions--fabulous landscape, great vantage point, beautiful sunrise, lovely clouds. je regarde tes photos avec plaisir et on retrouve un traitement qui est apprecie de l'autre cot� du channel, avec une touche que j'ai souvent vu dans les revues UK.
En tout cas c'est magnifique. Les highlands sont le paradis des photographes paysagistes.

Lovely, surreal colours, Emmanuel. This scene looks almost biblical in its simplicity and perfection. You had great light to work with, but it's still an excellent composition and perspective from your side.
