Photographer's Note
Winter is well and truly on the way in the northern isles of scotland. We've had some severe gales, some that last for days.
I thought it was time to get out and enjoy the kind of weather that makes you feel alive. And also slightly scared when close to rough seas!
This shot was taken at sunset, around 16:00 this far north at this time of year. Calm after the storm sort of weather - good swell on the sea but calm winds so your tripd doesn't blow around.
Converted to B&W to emphasise the simplicity of rocks and sea.
Thanks for looking
Craig

Nice scenary shot. Good foreground interest and yes, your choice of B&W help us see the texture and the contrast of the rocks more, giving them more impact in the picture. Nice details.
Is there a reason why you chose the particular exposure setting of 4 seconds? You wanted to make sure the elements of the picture remain sharp I suppose. Or is it you wanted to get the smoothening of the waves?

Hi,
Good choice of b/w Craig. Got a nice 3d effect on the rocks from the bouncing light. You must be pretty short of daylight up there now.
Thanks.
Dougie.

The shapes and textures of the wet rocks in the foreground are wonderful, and converting to B&W has allowed us to concentrate on these shapes and textures.
It's a very atmospheric, and I like the blurred water resulting from your long shutter speed.
Good work.
Ben
