Heron Pond at Sunrise, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

Heron Pond is one of many in Bushy Park. It makes for a perfect sunrise location in June-July, as the sun rises opposite a convenient bench where a photographer can rest while taking photos. :-)

This image was taken at 4.50 am.

Hi Kasia,
No signs of a big city on this one! It looks very peaceful and I'm sure it also is on that hour. Higher clouds are lit by the rising sun. Water is perfectly still, and reflections are like from a mirror, with a bit of mist adding some mystery.

Hello Kasia

As with all your photographs from this location, I'm really surprised that this is anywhere near London. I look for a building peeking above the trees, or even the odd pylon. Nothing. Even the long straight cloud looks like the result of wind rather than a Heathrow vapour trail. So my congratulations on this wonderful shot from the Danube delta!

there's a technique that some people can do in photo shop and post processing where they create an exact 100% mirror image of the main photo.

thats exactly what this one looks like!

but don't worry, i know you didn't do that :)

this is an awesome looking shot Kasia.
I wouldn't be surprised if this place isn't full of photographers.

even a hint of sunlight in the middle.

Lovely sunrise full of sublime colours and light, I really love the reflections in the pond and the bit of added interest of the floating reeds. The brightness is superbly balanced, just sufficient interest to be interesting and not too much to distract from this tranquil shot. The band of mist across is the icing on the sweet roll!
