Photographer's Note

"when I was a girl...." I had a very strict upbringing.

Due to the cultural changes brought on by migrating to the west, many asian parents feel very worried that their children are becomming "too westernised" so hold a tight reign on their daughters. I noticed that a lot of young women in India have more freedom than I did when I was growing up, as my parents desperately tried to hold onto what they thought was important. Things are very different now and lots of youngsters are losing their cultural identity.
