Photographer's Note
Thought I would post some shots from archives before they are consigned to storage.
This is the East end of Princes Street. The large building, apparently for rent (but probably not by the low paid), is the carcase of the Edinburgh Main Post Office now containing apartments. Its good that the outside was retained as it is quite impressive and can still remain a landmark. I believe that this point is where all the road mileages to Edinburgh are measured from, Waverly rail station is underneath and is a good people-watching place on a sunny day.
Teased some detail from the shadows with PS, cropped, sized, sharpened.

hello Dougie,
Somehow the news sign about scrapping fines for the low paid juxtaposed against these "upper end" rental apartments (flats to us less posh!) makes the picture to me. I guess this news will be of little interest to those renting these flats. Edinburgh is full of these contradicts as are most big cities. The poor rubbing shoulders with the rich.
On an artostic level, I like the solid geometry of the building kind of mirrored by the solid shape of the news sign.
regards,
Bev
